Are you a physician interested in consulting with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services
Incumbents in this job will evaluate patient needs review cases and prepare treatment programs based on patient information.
Example of Duties- Serve on Utahs weekly MedicaidMedical Review Committee to review prior authorization decisions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to coordinate care and promote preventative services.
- Analyze data and utilize evidencebased practices to provide recommendations on clinical decisionmaking
- Stay uptodate on trends and best practices in healthcare quality and population health.
- Provide expertise in best standards of care.
No direct patient care.
Typical Qualifications- Medical Doctor licensed in the state of Utah
- Demonstrated expertise in healthcare quality and population health
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and use evidencebased practices to inform decisionmaking
- Commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Medicaid members in Utah
Note: as of April 8 2024 DHHS employees will be working a hybrid schedule which includes 2 office days per week and 3 telework days.

Supplemental Information
- Current unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Utah (MD).
- Effective July 1 2021 State of Utah Employees must either reside in Utah or be in the process of relocating to within 30 days of their start date.
- This position may currently be a hybrid of both inoffice and remote work days. Please note a positions eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment e.g. working around operating machines working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals etc.
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend crouch stoop stretch reach lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs. in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
