ROLE SUMMARY
Alliance Deans of Scholars are responsible for facilitating the development and support of an inclusive school community that encourages a culture of high academic achievement wellness a sense of belonging individual accountability and collective responsibility.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Deans essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
School Culture and Climate
Drive school culture initiatives aligned with network priorities to support scholar engagement strong teacherscholar relationships and scholar safety.
Drive the effective and consistent implementation of Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) through a traumainformed mindset approach and practices while always uplifting and modeling the schools values and high expectations.
Regularly participate in conversations about race with colleagues that aim to build a more equitable inclusive and culturally relevant school culture and climate.
Promote general scholar health safety and welfare by overseeing planned inclusive scholar activities (e.g. career exploration field trips service learning dances rallies etc.
Scholar Behavior Discipline and Safety
Conduct scholar behavior incident investigations and write reports ensuring due diligence is always met
Oversee scholar discipline record keeping and documentation using a culture data system platform to support data collection and databased decisionmaking
Provide consistent and clear communication for parents both verbally and in writing
Manage suspension alternativetosuspension and behavior referral processes using a restorative approach nonexclusionary practices and strong documentation procedures.
Assist in the planning implementation and progress monitoring of effective individual scholar behavior support plans in collaboration with scholars parents/guardians teachers counselors school leaders and other support service providers including reentry meetings and/or IEP/504 plan meetings for students with multiple behavior infractions.
Assume responsibility for the overall safety and wellbeing of all scholars through ongoing monitoring and adjustment of school site systems practices routines and procedures.
Develop coordinate and monitor active supervision and transition systems throughout the school while delegating roles and responsibilities to Supervision Team members
Family Engagement and Relationships
Model for staff and support them in building and maintaining strong relationships with scholars and families.
Plan and lead parent/guardian conferences for behavior and/or attendancerelated issues as needed.
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians and families regarding student behavior (both positive and negative) via email phone and inperson conferences
Scholar Attendance
As part of the attendance team manage and implement school strategy to reduce chronic absenteeism and increase scholar attendance with a traumainformed lens and special attention to scholar subgroups (i.e. scholars who are: English Learners socioeconomically disadvantaged foster youth homeless students with disabilities racial/ethnic groups).
Analyze attendance data alongside behavior and academic data to support scholars through a MultiTiered System of Support (MTSS) lens.
Culture/Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team and Data Leadership
Lead the Culture/SEL team to regularly capture share and analyze scholar culture data and trends (including SEL surveys attendance and discipline) to assess and inform scholar services and a MultiTiered System of Support (MTSS).
Regularly collect and analyze behavior referral suspension discipline and violence data for both school safety planning and identification of any disproportionality including oversuspension of African American scholars.
Actively analyze data on a regular cadence to identify trends track the effectiveness of interventions and make datadriven decisions to improve the school culture and climate both in class and schoolwide.
Lead all data analysis with a traumainformed lens and special attention to scholar subgroups (i.e. scholars who are: English Learners socioeconomically disadvantaged foster youth homeless students with disabilities racial/ethnic groups).
Staff Development and Support
Use school culture data to plan and facilitate summer and monthly professional development with teachers and staff
Provide ongoing support (e.g. training PD sessions resources modeling coaching feedback) for staff on building positive classroom environments relationships with scholars effective implementation of the schoolwide PBIS plan and alternatives to exclusionary (i.e. referral outofclass) discipline practices.
Conduct regular classroom and common area culture observations to gather and analyze ongoing data regarding school and classroom culture and climate
Participate in interdisciplinary classroom walkthroughs alongside school leadership to identify trends in classroom culture behavior management routines and procedures and recommend teacher action steps to improve practice.
Partner with instructional coaches to integrate the culture of learning practices into 1:1 coaching with teachers and staff.
Miscellaneous
Uphold and follow school policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
Coaching Experience.Success coaching and developing adults within a school.

Expertise. Have strong academic content expertise instructional and classroom culture skills and indepth knowledge of effective evaluation and assessment techniques to drive scholarly learning. Thrive in an environment of high expectations and collaboration.
Mindset. Hold a growth mindset and commit to continuously honing their craft.
RelationshipBuilding. Have strong interpersonal communication and relationshipbuilding skills with both children and adults.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelors Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
At least 4 years of progressive professional work experience in a related field including at least one 1 year of school leadership experience managing and supporting a team of adults and directing a multitiered system of support and/or response to intervention for scholar behavior/culture in a public or public charter urban school
At least two 2 years experience working in a charter school or urban district setting
