Job Description
To manage the daily operations of the Callahan Eye Hospital medical staff office. To develop manage and monitor processes and procedures that support credentialing and recredentialing processes.

1. Manages the physician credentialing process. Works with medical staff leadership and hospital staff for the approval and ongoing review of providers.

2. Organizes and directs a comprehensive and specialized medical staff office program; ensures continued accreditation by The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory agencies.

3. Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.

4. Evaluates the effectiveness of all programs; analyzes trends and implements changes as needed.

5. Oversees the review process of data collection and studies involving medical staff evaluation/improvement efforts. This includes criteria for Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and triggers indicating need for Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE). Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure OPPE quality metrics are meaningful and appropriate for all specialties involving the Medical Staff; and ensures completion by all medical staff at defined intervals.

6. Manages all medical staff committees and all related peer review activities.

7. Interprets explains and adheres to all regulatory guidelines as well as internal rules regulations and policies including medical staff bylaws. Maintains credentialing and privileging forms for consistency and compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines.

8. Maintains systems to identify medical staff members and their privileges; prepares reports as required.

9. Manages the daily operations of the medical staff office.

10. Budget responsibilities: prepares makes recommendations projects needs monitors verifies and reconciles expenditures; develops cost comparisons; identifies cost saving opportunities.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelors degree (or currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelors degree program) in Business Healthcare or a related field and five 5 years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) preferred.
