The technical support position is mostly dedicated to the EMEA region.
The position is a key stone in the success of Calderys. The technical support is in close relation with the sales team and other departments in Calderys.
Calderys differentiates from the competition by selling solutions and not only products this is why the role of technical support is central and a key contribution to the success.
The time of a technical support engineer is shared between making technical offers customer visits trial follow up mostly but is very diversified in terms of activities. As we act on a large area the needs and the topics can vary a lot from one customer to another. This position also mobilizes different set of competencies both technical and social which make the position a good opportunity to enjoy and develop new skills.
Responsibilities
- Identify the technical needs of the customer and make recommendations of current products or instigate the development process for new products.
- Develop technical concepts for iron applications (e.g. casthouse design THC selection for instance)
- Evaluation of the Request for Quotations and Preparation of technical and economical offers which includes savings and benefits evaluations
- Coordinate the creation of technical drawings and bill of materials with the project department
- Present new product developments and project initiatives to Customers in line with global and regional sales managers strategies.
- Cooperation with Science & Technology and Marketing for product and business development.
- Cooperate with sales teams to present and explain the technical offers to the customer.
- Training of sales teams in the major technical aspects of iron technologies
- Generate and maintain a current reference list
- Support of root cause analysis of failures (postmortem analysis) and make recommendations for improvement of products performance against known wear mechanisms and process parameters

Requirements
- Expertise or knowledge in refractory technologies in the field of iron or steelmaking
- University degree in metallurgy ceramics or similar engineering or technical education
- 1 year of experience in refractory industry or iron making industry.
- French (fluent written spoken) / English (fluent written and spoken)
- High willingness to travel (up to 30
