Roblox is seeking a Director of Communications to manage consumer and corporate communications for the platform across the APAC region.
As a member of the Global Communications and Corporate Affairs team you will build and lead essential communications programs in multiple APAC markets as well as managing the companys response to reputational challenges in the region should they occur. You will implement localized communications campaigns through earned media channels aimed at influencing a wide variety of audiences from Gen Z consumers to the local creator/developer community to local brands to parents to policymakers showcasing the breadth of usergenerated virtual experiences on Roblox the role of developers & creators in the growing virtual economy on the platform and the companys commitment to safety and civility.
You have a strong understanding of the media and cultural landscape across a number of APAC markets a track record of developing critical initiatives and creative ideas that delivered impactful media coverage results and experience as a publicfacing company spokesperson. You are passionate about our mission the community Roblox serves and you should have an excellent understanding of consumer technology social media and entertainment industries. Knowledge and passion for immersive 3D technology and usergenerated content is preferred.
This position reports into the Sr. International Communications Director and is full time remote based in either South Korea Japan or Australia.
The role requires fluent language skills in English and either Korean or Japanese.
You Will:
- Build lead and implement compelling communications campaigns in APAC markets particularly South Korea Japan and Australia in support of business objectives and in partnership with communications agencies on the ground in those markets
- Use your deep understanding of the media landscape and media relationships to build strategic recommendations and scalable communications programs that help drive and support business objectives.
- Handle highprofile and fastpaced business issues while remaining calm and demonstrating good judgment.
- Lead local market media outreach in support of global communications campaigns and announcements including content launches product launches and executive profiling.
- Develop company positions on key regional issues as well as the strategy for reactive and proactive communications plans.
- Work in tandem with a range of business functions to support their communications objectives in the APAC including but not exclusive to the companys Marcomms Market Expansion Public Policy Civility Brand Partnerships and Developer Relations functions.
- Manage APAC press office agency relationships and crisis and issues management as needed.
- Act as a publicfacing spokesperson for Roblox in media interviews and at APAC events and conferences.
- Bring fresh ideas and a creative approach to deliver measurable attributable results.
- Brief spokespeople and staff Csuite interviews.
You Have:
- 15 years of experience in communications ideally including significant experience in a consumer technology company (preferably at a global public company in the entertainment media or gaming space)
- Fluent language skills in English and either Korean or Japanese. Additional language skills are a plus.
- Proven experience in a fastpaced environment
- Proventrack record developing and implementing essential communications plans aligning internal external and partner communications against business priorities
- Proven success at developing and delivering impactful proactive communications campaigns across multiple markets
- Experience supporting a variety of inhouse business functions and serving their communications needs (experience of Public Policy a plus)
- Experience managing multiple communication agencies in an inhouse communications role
- Confirmed performance handling communications in crisis and critical situations including crafting clear directives and followthrough
- Experience and confidence acting as a publicfacing spokesperson in media interviews including broadcast interviews (experience as a speaker at major events and conferences a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
