DescriptionHennepin County District Court is seeking to fill a Court Operations Leadworker II position in the Criminal Division.
The Leadworker serves as a division leader and positive role model by utilizing specialized clerical knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of division practices to contribute to the Districts mission vision and values. This position requires excellent problemsolving communication and collaboration skills as well as the ability to work independently and delegate responsibilities when appropriate. This position provides excellent customer service staff training and operational support responsibilities. The Leadworker performs highly advanced case processing in a timely manner and excels at managing competing responsibilities in a highperformance environment.
Examples of Duties
- Provide work direction to staff including reviewing work for accuracy and compliance coordinating workflow monitoring workload and coverage and leading the unit through change in conjunction with management
- Communicate with management on work progress personnel issues backlogs and assist staff in meeting performance standards
- Convey information to the unit from the supervisors and oversee the unit in the supervisors absence
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for division staff using advanced knowledge expertise and independent judgement to answer questions address highly complex unique and/or urgent case processing situations and independently resolve problems with limited conflicting or no guidance
- Develop and oversee staff training and related materials lead or coordinate division/team meetings and guide local efforts for district and/or statewide projects to ensure deadlines are met
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with justice partners and serve as a liaison to independently address and resolve issues brought forth by stakeholders
- Compile and analyze reports and monitor processes for the purpose of identifying trends issues and proactively making recommendations to supervisors for improvements
- Maintain documentation of and explain new court policies processes and procedures to unit staff
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of experience as a Court Operations Associate Court Operations Specialist Leadworker or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of current Hennepin County District Court Criminal Division policies and procedures
- Experience providing technical and procedural training on Criminal policies and procedures
- Experience reviewing work of others for accuracy and providing feedback for corrective action
- Experience writing job procedures and developing training materials in a clear and concise manner
- Courtroom experience including calling and updating cases. Demonstrated ability to maintain composure and professionalism in highpressure courtroom environments
- Working knowledge of current case processing procedures including processing of financials court procedures and policies related to both the administrative office and courtroom functions and the ability to apply these as needed
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines
- Proficient in the courts case processing system (MNCIS) Microsoft applications and SharePoint
- Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in problem solving including consulting various resources analyzing different situations and determining the best solution with limited conflicting or no guidance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Teamsand ability to learn other jobrelated software
- Skill in providing comprehensive training and guidance over daily work while building and maintaining effective working relationships within the team
- Ability to read and interpret legal documents of varying types and complexity and apply knowledge of specific laws statutes and rules
- Effective oral and written communication as well as the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to handle confidential matters and files appropriately accurately and in compliance with all applicable court rules policies and statutes
- Selfmotivation and the ability to prioritize work in a fastpaced environment while maintaining composure and professionalism when interacting with stakeholders within and outside the Judicial Branch
Supplemental Information
Logistics
The Criminal Downtown teams are located in downtown Minneapolis:
- Public Safety Facility: 401 S 4th St Suite 134 (first floor)
- Hennepin County Government Center: 300 S 6th St C1153 (C tower 11th floor)
This position is assigned to the Public Safety Facility team but may assist at the Government Center depending on business needs. Staff are working primarily onsite with potential for occasional remote work depending on business needs. The core hours for this position are 8:00am 4:30pm MondayFriday but may vary depending on the assignment and operational needs.
Salary Range
The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $25.41 or higher depending on qualifications. This position is nonexempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
