The City of Battle Creek will begin its recruitment process for establishing a hiring eligibility list for Entry Level Firefighters starting March 14 2025. Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED equivalency and must be 18 years of age upon hire. Applicants are instructed to complete an online application. Deadline to submit applications is 12:00am on April 15 2025.
Applicants must be able to attend one of the following entrylevel examination sessions: April 24 2025 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm or April 25 2025 from 8:30am to 11:30am. Exams will be held at Full Blast located at 35 Hamblin Avenue Battle Creek Michigan 49017. Exams will be graded onsite. Candidates that receive 70 or greater will be scheduled to take the Physical Agility Test.
Physical Agility Testing will take place at Full Blast on April 25 2025 from 12:00pm 8:00pm and Saturday April 26th from 8:00am8:00pm. Applicants must have the availability to attend a physical agility test during these time periods.
Structured Oral Interviews will be scheduled for those who successfully pass both the written exam and physical agility test. Interviews will be held on Saturday April 26 2025 from 9:00am to 8:00pm and Sunday April 27 2025 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Applicants must have the availability to attend an interview during these time periods.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Expected to perform the following or it is a critical part of the position: standing driving (motor vehicles heavy equipment at a high rate of speed) lifting (over 50 lbs. climbing (stairs and ladders) seeing (near and/or far color depth field) hearing talking working inside outside and at night. ENVIRONMENT: working around hazardous machinery and at considerable heights wet surroundings loud and low noises cluttered floor area high and low temperatures poor ventilation dust and fumes.
