    Job Description
    Title: Model Teacher

    Qualifications:
    1. Holds a valid Iowa teaching license.
    2. Has a minimum of three years of teaching experience.
    3. Has worked as a certified employee for a minimum of one year in the Southeast Polk CSD (additional years preferred).
    4. Has or can demonstrate a firm grasp of current strategies and initiatives within content areas.
    5. Has articulable and formal/informal successful leadership experiences.
    6. Has earned graduate hours beyond Bachelors Degree (preferred).

    Reports to: Building Principal and teaching staff


    Job Goal: To assist teachers in overcoming obstacles that impede their learning performance and development by providing appropriate models for them as they make changes focused on improved pedagogy.

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Teach full time.
    2. Serve as a model of exemplary teaching practice and allow visitors/observers into the classroom.
    3. Model the effective use of data to make sound classroom instructional decisions.
    4. Model to other teachers how to realize the vision achieve the mission and conduct the work of teachers according to the core values of the Southeast Polk CSD.
    5. Serve in various roles in work that involves professional learning communities data teams collaboration guided inquiry and peer review.
    6. Within the Professional Development Steering Committee and using the IPDM model participate in the collaborative design planning conducting and evaluation of all professional development activities.
    7. Participate in instructional rounds annually.
    8. Participate in buildingwide ad hoc committee work.
    9. Serve as a PTA/PTO or other building level parent council as a representative of the teaching staff.
    10. Serve as an instructional model for teachers in the awareness or intensive assistance phases of the evaluation process.
    11. Serve as the collaborative teacher for student teachers on a regular basis.
    12. Establish and demonstrate positive human relations with colleagues parents staff and community.

    Terms of Employment:
    1. Employed for 200 days.
    2. One 1 year length of assignment renewable.
    3. Stipend set by Board of Education.
    4. Position paid from Teacher Leadership and Compensation funding stream.

    Evaluation: Model Teachers are evaluated once per semester by building administration and a minimum of two assessment surveys will be completed by colleagues with whom the Model Teacher has worked closely. The online Model Teacher Assessment Survey will serve as the evaluation/assessment tool.
