The Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC) Swim School is looking for people who LOVE children and enjoy being in the water. Were proud of and passionate for our superhero team who instill in children a lifelong love of swimming respect for the water the full spectrum of swimming skills and prevention of the #1 cause of death in the US drowning. Never taught a swim lesson before Thats OK! We train all our teachers our award winning skills progression and aquatic/child development philosophy.
- Schedule consistency (super important to our kiddos) able to work weekends
- LOVES children. Loves watching them learn play talk sing and get excited. Welcomes the challenge when they cry fall down pout talk back and struggle with their learning.
- Ability to be on stage (or rather a fishbowl). An AVAC Swim School Teacher is calm collected friendly playful and professional.
- Extreme patience
- Comfort with talking to a child at eye level with age relevant conversation.
- At home in the water. Able to spend hours in chlorinated water in a swimsuit in an out of the pool via stairs supporting kids of all sizes in shallow and deep water
- Ability to obtain CPR/AED Certificate within 30 days. Ability to obtain a Red Cross Lifeguard certificate within 6 months (Shallow Water Lifeguard is acceptable)
- Ability to pass a background check and Californias child care registry Guardian.
