Responsibilities & Requirements

The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) maintains operational responsibility for one or more nursing units on a twentyfour hour a day basis. Responsible for planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care to patients in all settings where nursing care is provided in collaboration with other health care providers. The CNM is accountable for the provision of safe patient care compliance with department strategic objectives participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of evidence based nursing care at Kettering Health Network reflects the philosophies missions vision and values of the organization and nursing department.

Minimum Education
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Bachelors degree in another field if willing to begin a program leading to a Bachelor of Science or Masters degree in Nursing within 12 months of hire and completed within 3 years
Masters in Nursing preferred a Masters may be mandatory if required by a regulatory agency

Required Licenses
OhioUnited StatesRegistered Nurse
Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse
BLS
National certification by the end of 2nd year in position

Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of two years of progressive clinical experience with demonstrated leadership skills

Makes adequate advance arrangements for time off and coordinates coverage for area.
Manages time effectively in completing assigned responsibilities

Reports environmental personnel and patient/family safety issues to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner and follows through accordingly

Attends (or reviews via HealthStream) a minimum of three Town Hall meetings

Utilizes the service recovery process; assures that the concerns of patient and family members are addressed

Leads organizational initiatives utilizing lean processes

Manages productivity and supplies within budget; provides explanations for variances and aberrancies
Assists with the development of the department budgets; assures that adequate resources (staff supplies equipment) are allocated
Evaluates staff competency and addresses areas of concern
Demonstrates the value of lifelong learning through ones own example
Creates an environment in which others are setting expectations and holding each other accountable
Manages performance through rewards recognition counseling and disciplinary action
Works to assure that units/staff have the equipment and supplies need to provide patient care
Coaches and develops staff to address issues related to patients families and members of the interdisciplinary team.
Routinely responds to staff concerns and complaints in a timely manner
Exhibit willingness to assist coworkers across departments and the Network
Resolves conflicts in a forgiving spirit; takes appropriate action for resolution
Collaborates with Human Resources for issues related to human resource management including the hiring of staff and the use of the disciplinary process in accordance with hospital policy

Works collaboratively within the team to enhance the care to patients/customers
Intervenes to address issues impacting interdisciplinary team functioning
