Description of Position
Reporting to the Executive Director of Community Servicesthe Family Services Manager both manages the Family Services Program and provides some direct therapy to families referred by MCFD. The families generally have multiple challenges having also been identified as possessing child protection concerns. The position is responsible for assessment and effective intervention with families. The manager will clinically support a team of therapists and outreach workers who deliver a range of services to the White Rock/South Surrey MCFD office. Services provided include preservation and reunification visitation therapy and some outreach services to children and youth. The program operates from a strength based family systems and trauma informed perspective incorporating cultural safety principles. Effective and collaborative communication with MCFD staff is essential. Administrative duties not limited to data collection report writing and participation in accreditation activities are required.
General Responsibilities:
- Manages the operations of Child and Family Services.
- Ensures the provision of services in alignment with MCFD contracts.
- Provides the hiring and performance plans for all Child and Family Services staff.
- Manages program budget.
Program Specific Responsibilities:
- Provides direct therapeutic services to families in any configuration as guided by the service plan developed in collaboration with the family.
- Receives referrals from MCFD (Child Protection Family Development and Child and Youth Mental Health) and in conjunction with program staff creates an action plan to respond to the referral in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Oversees the intake process and guides the intake meetings to collaborate with MCFD staff and the client and develops an initial service plan.
- The Program Manager provides the therapeutic direction on the cases and will provide feedback and support to the family worker(s) in service of the client and the service plan.
- Ongoing and regular review of Service Plans including quarterly case conferencing with MCFD and family members.
- Provides clinical supervision and support as necessary to the Family Worker(s) and other Family Therapists.
- Ensures that case management is consistent with COA Accreditation standards.
- Reviews case notes and reports ensuring professionalism and congruence with Accreditation standards as well as reviewing for progress.
- Case plans are reflected in the form of written reports signed by the client and copied to MCFD Social Worker.
- Responsible for appraisals of program staff.
- Liaises and collaborates with MCFD and other agency staff where it applies to mutual clients as well as overall services.
- Collects program data required for program review and to fulfill terms of MCFD contract. This data forms the basis of output and outcome results.
- Sits on or delegates program staff to sit on internal committees as required and appropriate.
- Sits on external committees in the community related to children and family services.
Qualifications:
- Post Graduate degree in counselling or counselling related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years providing therapeutic intervention to families.
- Two years supervisory and/or clinical supervision experience required.
- Ideally certified with an association such as the BC College of Social Workers or BC Association of Clinical Counsellors or equivalent.
- Able to provide intake and assessment and use appropriate tools.
- Knowledge of MCFD protocol regarding Child Protection and Risk Assessment.
- Familiar and comfortable working with Microsoft Office products.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Drivers License and a reliable vehicle.
- Uptodate First Aid Certificate.

Salary: $47.38/hour to start
