The Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Integrated Strategic Solutions (ISSE) engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Level Mechanical Engineer that is passionate about the development of electronics individual equipment enclosures and integration of items into rack level assemblies. These designs will contain a mixture of highpower componentry and radio frequency (RF) shielding considerations as well as challenging size weight and power dissipation requirements. This position will require ownership and coordinating with a highly crossfunctional team to ensure quality and compliance of designs throughout the entirety of their lifecycles. The selected candidate will be instrumental in driving innovation in the design development and test of electronic equipment supporting military communications missions.

This is an ONSITE position located in Richardson TX.

What You Will Do

• Communicate technical topics and issues in a clear and concise manner to both technical peers as well as nontechnical team members.
• Conduct and provide constructive feedback during peer reviews. Mentor and document knowledge to provide technical guidance to both members of own team and beyond.
• Interface with a cross functional team such as Electrical and Systems engineering to ensure requirements compliance throughout the entirety of a products lifecycle.
• Work proactively and in a selfdriven manner with an integrated product team (IPT) to manage project scope and budget as well as identify risks and opportunities.
• Participate in and lead investigations into highly complex openended tasks. Search for and identify root cause of issues.
• Create military compliant designs that incorporate custom machined/sheet metal parts with a selection of commercial off the shelf items as required.
• Contribute to prototyping and testing activities to verify product requirements compliance.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree 9 years of relevant experience
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.government issued security clearance is required
• U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizensare eligible for a security clearance

• Experience with 3D CAD software (Solidworks Creo CATIA NX or similar) and the ability to apply best practices with said tools.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Active possession of an active U.S. government issued Secret or Top Secret clearance.
• Background in commercial industry standards and military electronics packaging form factors chassis design and electromechanical applications.
• Practical experience in design and thermal management techniques for electronics packaging designs (enclosures and/or racks) with rigorous size weight and power (SWaP) requirements.
• Direct experience with printed circuit board (PCB) designs. Can support tasks not directly mechanical such as component selection and layout to ensure mechanical environmental considerations are met.
• Can apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
• Knowledge of military standards such as MILSTD810 RTCA DO160 and MILSTD1472.
• Experience working with standard form factor industry standards such as EIA310 ATR or VITA.
• Handson experience designing products that contain internal RF emissions or high power wiring.
• Handson experience designing to meet and qualifying products for rugged environments such as those with electromagnetic interference (EMI) electromagnetic pulse (EMP) and nuclear exposure.
• Familiar with thermal and structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) best practices. (Ansys)
• Working knowledge of Agile development methods for hardware.
• Either familiar with or preferably experienced with Control Account Management (CAM) and earned value techniques.
• Experience with rapid prototyping process methods such as 3D printing for midstream design verifications.
• Practical experience with designing for antitamper considerations for NSA compliance.
• Practical experience with designing for TEMPEST considerations for NSA compliance.

The salary range for this role is 82000 USD 164000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
