Job Description

Description of Work

DNCR does not engage in dual employment for temporary positions; if you are currently employed with another State agency State university or the NC National Guard and intend to remain employed with that entity you may not be considered for temporary work with DNCR.

This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and timelimited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or timelimited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governors Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporarys skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agencys culture process procedures and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.



Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Job offer is contingent upon passing a preemployment screen conducted by assigned provider.
  • Provide a range of technical support tasks including asset management to DPR end users.
  • Performs remedial repairs on Desktops laptops printers and any other authorized peripheral equipment.
  • Network connectivity and general PC and peripheral troubleshooting.
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems associated with network connectivity and workstation hardware/software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating system (Win 10 and Win 11 and/or Macintosh (Mac) operating system.
  • Microsoft Active Directory client server environment.
  • Understanding and applying desktop and network security best practices.
  • Virtual meeting software applications and support audio/video equipment connectivity in meeting rooms.
  • Broad experience of IT with basic understanding of Networks Servers Audio/Visual Smart Devices and Telecoms.
  • Some evening and weekend work is possible.
  • Frequent day travel is required therefore a valid drivers license is required.

Position/Physical Requirements:

  • Typical work schedule is Monday Friday 8am 5pm
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • This positions job duties are performed in both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Must be available to work after hours and weekend when necessary.
  • Must have a valid drivers license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

Veterans and National Guard Preference

Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
