About the Opportunity
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director Research Administration the Research Agreement Officer serves as a key resource for faculty department staff and funding agencies. This position will be responsible for reviewing negotiating coordinating and processing a wide range of research agreements including incoming and outgoing subawards related research agreements (e.g. nondisclosure material and data use agreements) and provides essential guidance on university and funding agency policies and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced time sensitive environment preferred. Must have solid judgment and capacity to exercise discretion to resolve ambiguity and promote effective solutions. Must have a strong commitment to constructively contribute to a customer service environment providing professional timely efficient and courteous service to the university research community.
Bachelors degree and/or a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Knowledge of government research regulations and with customary policies and practices of an institute of higher education a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Research Agreement Review & Negotiation 70
- Reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of research related agreements from federal state nonprofit and industry partners. Review includes verifying budgets and ensuring conformance with sponsor governmental regulations and university policy requirements. Negotiation includes balancing the other partys and universitys needs while ensuring compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Research Community Resource 20
- Serve as a resource for the NU research community; collaborate with university stakeholder offices as needed including Office of General Counsel Research Finance and Compliance units to ensure adherence to university policies coordinate between and among NURES unites (e.g. compliance) stakeholders and faculty/department administrators.
Professional Development 10
- Engage in Universitywide professional development activities i.e. training workshops and developing resources useful for in special projects assigned by NURES.

With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarlysituated employees already in the role.
