Job Description
The Social Marketing team owns Amazons automated advertising on social media apps like Facebook Instagram SnapChat Pinterest and more. Our engineering team builds selfoptimizing ad personalization engines that leverage integrated machine learning massive data processing and adaptive algorithms to deliver ad performance. We use social graph signals and closed loop optimization to power our advertising engine. As a part of our team you will have a chance to have a groundup impact on our systems our business and most importantly our customers through the leadership of a team of engineers focused on scaling social advertising.
Our program goals driving sales of Amazon products and offers driving customer acquisition to strategic programs such as Prime Video & Amazon Music and downloads of Amazons mobile apps like Amazon Shopping app Prime Video app etc. This is a rapidly growing team at Amazon and were building a topnotch team of engineers scientists and engineering leaders. The problems we face are complex and interesting including the information engineering and data mining of big data sets from both social media and Amazon. We build large scale distributed systems using multiple AWS services designed from ground up to make extensive use of machine learning and social graph data.
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our team in our Seattle headquarters and help build the social advertising platform that will power large scale advertising programs on multiple social media apps. The team will build a wide range of large scale multitiered distributed systems. Successful candidates must be innovative flexible have strong leadership skills and be able to work collaboratively with crossfunctional business and software development teams to solve critical business problems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large datasets distributed computing technologies and serviceoriented architecture.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment life cycle including design development documentation testing and operations. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills be selfdriven and deliver high quality results in a fast paced environment. They need to really enjoy working closely with their peers in a group of very talented engineers.
Bachelors degree or equivalent
3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
