Job Description

POLITICO is seeking a Research Analyst to contribute analysis and research to its regulatory intelligence and information services product AgencyIQ. Since its founding in early 2020 AgencyIQ has quickly become the premier source of regulatory intelligence and analysis for professionals working in the life sciences and chemicals industries and is relied upon by many of the top companies trade groups law firms and advocacy groups.

As a subject matter specialist in the regulation of food by U.S. regulatory agencies like the FDA and EPA (including food contact substances food labeling food processing and production food safety and compliance and state regulations the Research Analyst will be responsible for analyzing the relevance of regulatory changes and developments articulating the type and degree of impact on food companies and providing context to an audience of knowledgeable regulatory professionals.

The Research Analyst will join a newly established team of experienced researchers responsible for producing a mix of daily content indepth research weekly insights directed deliverables and presentations.

What Youll Do

  • Produce daily topical intelligence articles and other content for our subscribers based on emerging regulatory and legislative developments related to food regulatory topics
  • Serve as a subject matter specialist on several food topics for AgencyIQ (e.g. labeling packaging safety compliance etc.
  • Lead or participate in the development and delivery of indepth analysis deepdive research webinars and email newsletters
  • Collaborate with several members of the research team focused on chemical food and life sciences regulation
  • Participate in subscriber and prospectfacing events briefings and business development activities

What youll need

  • At least 2 years experience analyzing U.S. food regulatory policy at a consulting company think tank trade association government agency or company
  • An affinity for writing efficiently and effectively and for a business or policy audience paired with a knowledge of (and passion for) regulation and regulatory policy
  • Experience and comfort working in fastpaced researchdriven environments where daily delivery of regulatory analyses is the norm
  • An excellent working knowledge of the food chemical regulatory process (and in particular the FDA and EPA); capable of delivering expert insights to our knowledgeable subscribers
  • Experience presenting on regulatory topics to a variety of different audience types (small groups large groups) in different environments (virtual and inperson)

      While not required it would help if you:

      • Have an advanced degree or certification related to the food or chemical sciences law or policy (i.e. a JD PhD or relevant masters degree); or
      • Have prior experience working in media including as a journalist or writing a product widely read by others such as a business intelligence product or internal newsletter
