Established in 1964 as the first public university in southeast Florida Florida Atlantic University serves 30000 undergraduate and graduate students on six campuses along Floridas beautiful southeast coast in Broward Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties. The Florida Atlantic University Libraries have prioritized working collaboratively with an R1 campus community on a Top 100 research initiative that includes a highly library engaged campus and community environment. FAU Libraries house approximately 3.7 million items and provide access to over 80000 electronic journals nearly 500 databases and a growing collection of ebooks and streaming videos. The Libraries house many distinctive collections including artists books sound recordings print music rare books and manuscripts and University Archives. The Digital Library creates online collections from unique materials housed in Special Collections and University Archives and serves as the Universitys repository for the intellectual output produced on campus.

Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Access Research and Learning Services with a dotted line reporting to the Associate Dean of University Libraries who oversees services to offsite campus centers the Broward Services Librarian will extend the Libraries proactive usercentric service model to actively engage and collaborate with the FAU Broward community and support its instructional and research needs in traditional and innovative ways with a special emphasis on graduate programs and faculty research.
This position provides introductory and indepth orientations to library services and resources for graduate students and faculty using exhibitions public programming classes online tutorials social networking and other innovative techniques to engage the FAU Broward community. In collaboration with the Research and Instructional Services Unit within the Libraries the Broward Services Librarian will participate in library outreach and programming efforts serve as a liaison with assigned academic and student support units participate in collection management for assigned areas and conduct inperson and virtual reference and instructional services. This position will also prioritize providing focused services for Florida Atlantic graduate students and faculty at the University/College Libraries on the Florida Atlantic Davie Campus. The Broward Services Librarian will serve two days a week at a Florida Atlantic Broward Campus (e.g. Fort Lauderdale Dania Beach or Davie in Broward County) and the remaining days at the S.E. Wimberly Library on the Boca Raton Campus (Palm Beach County) including virtual support for the Broward campuses.
Essential Functions:
- Provide focused inperson and virtual library services to FAU students researchers and faculty at Broward campus locations.
- Provide focused services specifically for FAU graduate students and faculty at the University/College Libraries on the Florida Atlantic Davie Campus including conducting systematic reviews.
- Provide reference and information assistance inperson and virtually to external and internal library users for all types and formats of library materials and services.
- Promote and market the Ask a Librarian online reference service for Broward locations.
- Provide instructional sessions using library resources to an assorted community and student body working across various disciplines.
- Provide group oneonone distance learning and hybrid instruction for courses workshops and programs.
- Engage in liaison activities across disciplines such as architecture communication and multimedia studies visual arts and art history and ocean and mechanical engineering.
- Support scholarly communication promoting awareness and adoption of open educational resources (OER) and contributing to collection management.
- Promote and market Digital Commons and Research Commons to faculty researchers graduate students and postdocs.
- Develop subject/discipline promotional materials that effectively communicate the Libraries digital collections and other resources to the community by utilizing research guides online tutorials and other media.
- Actively engage with University and library colleagues to ensure current collections and services meet the needs of the FAU Broward community and support the Universitys and Libraries mission and strategic plan including maintaining R1 status and obtaining Top 100 status.
- Support the Libraries KPIs and other strategic initiatives.
- Participate in FAU programs and events that promote student recruitment academic preparedness and graduation.
- Participate in Libraries engagement events.
- Work closely with library colleagues on community outreach and development activities.
- Contribute to developing and strengthening a positive view of the FAU Libraries as an active partner in the Universitys educational and research mission and assist with promoting the Libraries needs and services.
- Serve on appropriate Libraries University regional state or national committees including professional committees and actively participate in faculty governance.
- Investigate opportunities to carry out publish and present original scholarship research and scholarly projects related to the area of expertise or responsibility.
- Develop an annual professional development plan.
- Submit reoccurring library faculty activity reports as assigned.
- Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned.
Location:
On a weekly basis this position will typically serve a minimum of two days a week at a Florida Atlantic Broward Campus (e.g. Fort Lauderdale Dania Beach or Davie in Broward County) using the University Libraries state vehicle (if desired) and the remaining days at the S.E. Wimberly Library on the Boca Raton Campus (Palm Beach County) including virtual support for the Broward campuses.
Virtual services to the FAU Broward community will also be provided from the Boca Raton Campus. When working from the Boca Raton Campus the Broward Services Librarian will also prioritize working on liaison activities collection management responsibilities marketing materials research guides professional development professional service scholarship/research activities and faculty governance.
