Position Summary: Manages all instructional services and support programs that are available to students with conditions or identified disabilities as required under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act throughout the school district. Directs and provides leadership for a comprehensive special education program to ensure the district provides appropriate services for students with special needs. Directs leadership in planning and implementing curriculum and instructional improvements for students with disabilities that yield improved student performance. Oversees the family engagement support and services provided ensuring that parents are afforded meaningful participation in their students plan for services. Provides leadershipand support to administrators and teachers in the areas of district policy standardized procedures and ensures program compliance with all state federal and local requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Masters Degree from an accredited university
Experience:
Five 5 years experience in program administration and the supervision of professionalpersonnel
Three 3 years experience in a special education leadership role
Three 3 years experience in leading diverse work teams program evaluation researchmethods
Previous experience as a school leader or principal preferred
Specialized Knowledge Licenses Etc.:
Possess or ability to obtain an Oklahoma Teacher and Administrator Certificate
Extensive knowledge and experience with the student referral evaluation identificationprocess
Comprehensive and proficiency in theories and principles of learning and evaluation;knowledge of special education principles theories and laws
Demonstrated ability to resolve logistical and operational problems related to specialeducation servicedelivery
Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal special education law
Demonstrated knowledge of special education programs. Proficient in Microsoft OfficeSuite andGoogle Office Suite
Experience working with children and youth in a special education setting; experience inan urbanschool setting and/or in a multicultural education environment preferred
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
