How will I help

The Senior Product Owner (SPO) is a key part of the Payments Capability Delivery and Management team. The position within the team supports the mobile & digital payments business with core responsibilities across the payments portfolio.

Product levers from portfolio management product development strong relationship skills and marketing will be crucial. As an enthusiast about payments youunderstand the payments market and constantly strive for better payments moments for our customers and to help grow adoption and usage.

As the Senior Product OwnerPayments Capability Delivery and Management you will be part of the Delivery and Management Squad across Consumer Finance. You will be responsible for taking the lead on commercial partnership discussions and supporting the consumer bank payments strategy including outlook for consumer payments across the industry and prioritising of key initiatives to ensure competitive position. You will also look after existing payment products such as Apple pay Google Pay Digital card etc as well as building commercial relationships and developing strategic outcomes for the benefit of our customers and our business. Additionally you will be responsible for the ownership and renegotiation of commercial contracts relating to providers as well as ensuring Westpacs interests are maintained in a rapidly evolving payments environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply cards & payments business acumen and product insights in support of to the planning and of customer programs.
  • Support development of the understanding of market trends including risk fraud and regulatory constraints analyse competitor strengths and weaknesses and publish findings
  • Good grasp of marketing fundamentals and product functionality. The ability to help translate technical capabilities into benefits and effectively position and maintain how the product is distinguished from competitors
  • Analyse related scheme release requirements (eftpos Mastercard Visa) assess and own the implementation of required changes
  • Identify customer pain points and opportunities across channels to improve our payments products and services as well as NPS
  • Engagement with internal and external stakeholder incl global payment providers to grow payments portfolio performance
  • Be knowledgeable of customer needs including information / education required to fill customer knowledge gaps on product features and benefits; acquire intelligence and share findings through research surveys;
  • Delivery of Go To Market strategy for any new payment products or propositions
  • Contributing to monthly performance packs and insight papers that serve to promote awareness of global and local developments in the payments domain and inform Westpacs own payments strategy

Whatdo I need

  • Depth of demonstrable experience in financial services cards and payments product experience.
  • Experienced in product management and delivery as well as strength in gathering and articulating business requirements.
  • You have a strong understanding of payments industry in Australia including the regulatory environment scheme rules and the digital and mobile payments market
  • You closely follow payment trends and emerging payments and understand the related technologies (such as tokenisation and payment gateways)
  • Creative with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Motivated selfstarter: is a problem solver enjoys creating something new.
  • Customer centricity understand how to identify (leveraging research / network / industry knowledge)
  • Demonstrated stakeholder influencing and collaboration skills
  • Exposure to LEAN Agile and proven transformation methodologies
