Youth Apprentices in nurse aide roles join a dedicated nursing team providing the excellent patient care weve come to be known for. You will work with a nurse mentor who will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role. If direct patient care is exciting for you and youve already completed the Wisconsin Nurse Aide certification training with a passing score on the state exam this could be the perfect role for you.
Job Details
Effectively work as part of a team communicate effectively with close attention to details
Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program
Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors school staff parent(s) or guardian(s) and employer
Contribute to the overall quality and safe care for patients by answering call lights taking vital signs and monitoring behavior and physical condition
Create a positive patient experience by assisting patients with their activities of daily living including assisting with baths ambulating feeding skin care personal and oral hygiene and making occupied and unoccupied beds
Assist with performing procedures such as toileting turning cough and deep breathing catheter care collection of biological specimens measuring and recording intake and output of fluids
Contribute to exceptional patient satisfaction by establishing a compassionate environment by timely responses to patients needs open communication and providing emotional and psychological support
Contribute to safety and quality care by relaying information via charting and communicating to team members
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Passing score on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide certification exam
High school junior or senior
16 years of age
Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria
Reliable transportation to get to and from work
Satisfactory progress towards graduation
Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite 1015 hours/week
Demonstrated maturity and responsibility
Skill with attending to details excellent attendance and a strong work ethic
Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication
