Job Description

Summary

General Summary
To plan and implement physical education programs for pediatric students. To create and maintain a safe environment in which students may function at their highest level of physical activity and learning. To serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the delivery of academic physical medical and psychosocial services to chronically ill children.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Provides exercise and physical conditioning courses and activities appropriate for the pediatric population including individualized assessment assistance and instruction.
  2. Plans activities and lessons for daily instruction and student participation.
  3. Maintains appropriate records and completes report cards.
  4. Implements individual behavior plans in conjunction with interdisciplinary team.
  5. Monitors and evaluates physical condition and wellbeing of students during physical activity and exercise.
  6. Attends staffing case conferences and IEP meetings as assigned.
  7. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Serves as a role model and demonstrates professional behavior in dealing with patients/students families and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  8. Meets with parents completes forms review school progress and makes recommendations.
  9. May supervise volunteers educational assistants interns or studentteachers.
  10. Attends inservice facility and inschool meetings after school/evening meetings as necessary and as requested.
  11. Assists with the supervision of students before school during lunch between classes and dismissal.
  12. Performs as a backup to staff absences as necessary.
  13. Maintains student confidentiality and other confidential information that is obtained during the performance of duties.
  14. Participates in the development and implementation of a school quality improvement program.
  15. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities
None

General Responsibilities

  1. Performs as directed safety compliance and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed.
  2. Participates in Quality Assessment (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) programs as directed.
  3. Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and all other Federal State and Regulatory Agencies.
  4. Responds promptly and sincerely to customers needs requests and concerns via all communication forms using easily understood language and refraining from using inappropriate language and nonverbal gestures.
  5. Maintains positive working relationships as a team player through problem solving issues speaking positively about others listening attentively and observing the Patient Bill of Rights and Confidentiality.
  6. Increases customer service knowledge skill and ability by participating in department and institutionwide specific programs.
  7. Incorporates National Jewishs identity (Breathing Science isLife) into daily functions. Speaks positively about the institution provides customers with prompt service maintains a clean and safe working environment dresses appropriately based upon National Jewish safety standards and departmental policies and wears an ID badge visibly.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor degree in physical education exercise physiology or recreational therapy required. Masters degree preferred.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of three 3 years of recent and related experience required.
  3. Special Training Certification and Licensure: Colorado teaching licensure in physical education or comparable licensure/certification from appropriate agency or organization such as NCTRC required. BLS/CPR required. Lifeguard Training and Community First Aid and Safety Training required.


Salary Range: $67454.40 $89208.44
