As a BMS Design Manager you will play a vital role in shaping building automation solutions for largescale construction projects. Working closely with project teams clients and key stakeholders you will be responsible for producing and refining detailed BMS control system designs that align with contract specifications and industry standards.
This flexible role will primarily be based Coulsdon however may require occasional travel to projects around London.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop refine and oversee BMS control system designs based on project specifications.
- Ensure all design deliverables meet quality standards (ISO 9001 and contractual requirements.
- Attend project handovers design meetings and client discussions to align expectations.
- Produce essential engineering documents such as equipment schedules points lists and descriptions of operation.
- Collaborate with software engineers CAD designers and project managers to ensure seamless .
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to source technical specifications.
- Identify and communicate design variations and potential risks to project managers.
- Oversee and approve CAD designs before client submission or manufacturing.
- Monitor project design hours to ensure efficient and costeffective delivery.
- Identify additional work opportunities and support claims for additional costs.
- Submit accurate weekly timesheets for project costing.
- Work closely with project managers CAD designers and software engineers to ensure alignment.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers supporting their development.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Assist with problemsolving and troubleshooting for project challenges.
- Support the development of trainee engineers sharing knowledge and best practices.
Skills Required:
- Proven experience delivering BMS designs for large construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) including Trend Distech Tridium and Delta.
- Experience liaising with main contractors design teams and clients.
- Ability to produce engineering documentation such as points lists and descriptions of operation.
- Ability to work within project budgets and identify commercial risks.
- Ability to confidently present and explain design concepts to clients and project teams.
- Relevant technical qualifications and accreditations.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word Project and Outlook.
- CSCS cardholder (or willingness to obtain one).
- Knowledge of IT networks and topologies.
- Understanding of cloudbased technologies and smart building principles.
- Familiarity with standardised naming conventions and system integrations.
