English Teacher
Contract Type: Parttime Permanent
Hours: 16 hours / 2 days per week

Aurora Fairway School
We are looking to recruit a part time English Teacher to join our team at Fairway School in St Ives Cambridge.
Aurora Fairway is part of the Aurora group. We are a bespoke secondary school that opened in September 2022. Our students are aged 1116 year olds with arange of complex learning needsincluding social emotional and mentalhealth needs speech language andcommunication difficulties and autism. Key Duties:
- To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum having regard to the educational and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
- Be responsible for the high quality of teaching and learning of all students who are assigned to the post holder having responsibility for their literacy skills progress welfare and outcomes.
- Supervise the work of any support staff who are assigned to work with the post holders students.
- To have an up to date knowledge and understanding of the professional duties of teachers and the statutory framework within which teachers work.
- To implement the aims of the school.

Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- PGCE Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification in English and evidence of inservice training is essential.
- Role would suit primary as well as secondary trained teachers
- Postgraduate diploma in SEN is desirable.
- Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with students with SEMH is desirable.
- Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to students with a wide range of needs from nonreaders to students aiming for GCSE English is desirable.
Knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of English within the national curriculum to support a range of students abilities and knowledge base.
- Working knowledge of SEMH students with complex needs including ASD.
- Knowledge understanding and experience of autism and associated comorbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
- Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEN and in particular autism
