Clinical Manager
Bloomington IL
POSITION PURPOSE:
In collaboration with the Director the Clinical Manager is a patient care leader who assumes overall responsibility for the BEI clinical staff its functions policies and procedures. This role ensures efficient and effective patient care while maintaining compliance with state federal and industry regulations. The Clinical Manager serves as an expert resource in facilitating patient care ensuring accountability for the patient care team and fostering an environment characterized by trust acceptance recognition and respect. The Clinical Manager works closely with the Director surgeons and clinical staff to uphold highquality care standards in a singlespecialty Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) specializing in ophthalmology operating four days a week with 10hour shifts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Clinical Leadership & Oversight
    • Plans organizes and supervises clinical services to ensure patient care needs are met according to ASC standards and regulatory guidelines.
    • Provides direct supervision and leadership to nurses technicians and support staff fostering a culture of teamwork and professional growth.
    • Assists in staffing decisions performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR and the Director.
    • Oversees and manages the daily operations of the clinical department by ensuring efficient and effective workflows. Observes procedures and makes appropriate recommendations for improving techniques while maintaining patient care standards.
    • Performs and/or assists clinical staff with patient care procedures and tasks as needed to achieve positive clinical outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Stays current with state and federal regulations including those from IDPH CMS and AORN ensuring all policies and procedures align with best practices.
    • Oversees infection control protocols and ensures staff compliance with safety and sterilization procedures.
    • Conducts audits and monitors quality control measures to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Develops and implements strategies to optimize the use of staff facilities and equipment.
    • Ensures clinical staff are crosstrained to assist in multiple roles including preop OR and postop areas.
    • Assists on the surgical floor as needed supporting the clinical team during peak times.
    • Must be proficient in the use of equipment and instrumentation at Bloomington Eye Institute.
  • Communication
    • Collaborates closely with the Director surgeons and administrative team to ensure seamless patient flow and highquality care.
    • Maintains communication between the ASC Director and staff regarding clinical flow policies and procedures.
    • Serves as a point of contact for patient concerns resolving issues in a professional and compassionate manner.
    • Performs thorough patient assessments by observing and collecting data from patients and other appropriate sources to develop an ongoing plan of care.
    • Plans for the preoperative intraoperative and postoperative care of the patient based on assessment findings and procedures to be performed.
    • Collaborates with surgeons and other team members to ensure the delivery of highquality patient care.
    • Promotes a welcoming and patientcentered environment.
  • Financial Management
    • Effectively and efficiently utilizes resources to minimize costs to patients and the surgery center.
    • Assists in ensuring appropriate staffing levels and coordinates/assigns staff work schedules and daily surgical schedules to appropriate care cases.
    • Monitors and analyzes clinical data identifies areas for improvement and implements quality improvement initiatives as needed.
    • Manages inventory and ordering of clinical supplies and equipment.
    • Maintains knowledge of current trends and best practices in healthcare and makes recommendations for process improvements.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Collaborates with Human Resources regarding recruitment and retention processes.
    • Ensures compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintains patient confidentiality.
    • Other duties as assigned by the ASC Director.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education Experience Skills):
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Active Illinois RN license required.
    • BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Five years of RN experience in an ambulatory surgery setting or operating room. Ophthalmology experience preferred.
    • Clinical management experience in an ASC or surgical setting required.
    • Strong knowledge of ophthalmic procedures and regulatory compliance preferred.
    • Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
    • Ability to analyze clinical workflows and implement process improvements.
    • Adept at managing multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills.
    • Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients peers providers management and visitors.
    • Ability to multitask and manage priorities while sometimes under pressure.
    • The ability to contribute to a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning when necessary.
  • Push and/or pull carts recliners and/or wheelchairs weighing in excess of 200 pounds on an hourly basis on level surfaces and/or inclines.
  • Lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds on an hourly basis.
  • Squat kneel reach grab with arms and hands and utilize manual dexterity continuously.
  • Use a keyboard and video display terminal to enter retrieve and transform words or data.
  • Sufficient auditory and visual acuity including color vision and depth perception to interact with and/or care for others.
  • Work is performed in a temperaturecontrolled surgical environment.
  • Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise dust temperature etc. Occasional wet surfaces.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous substances such as toxic chemicals bloodborne pathogens and infectious microorganisms.
  • Infection exposure risk level is a Category 1 highrisk area. Position has required duties that involve exposure to blood bodily fluids or tissue.

Pay: The starting range for this position is $85000..36/salary. depending on skills experience and qualifications as well as market considerations. (posting updated 1/2/2025
