About The Team
The Developer Tooling team is oriented around empowering & supporting engineers throughout the software development lifecycle. The team identifies opportunities to drive impactful improvements across the entire development lifecyclefrom a developers initial approach to a problem through the iterative development process release workflows and production observability. The Developer Tooling team ensures engineers at Scribd can build deploy and operate systems efficiently by providing robust tools and frameworks.
The Developer Tooling team builds & provides development foundations that teams can leverage to make building & owning their systems and distributed services a great experience. This includes:
Building and maintaining our innovative remote development environment
Providing service foundation frameworks that enable rapid service development & operations
Managing critical infrastructure for networking and service discovery
Improving the development foundations of our Monolith
The team youll be leading is remotefirst; spread across time zones in North America & western Europe. The expectation for this role is to have a minimum of 2 overlapping working hours daily to be able to meet with and support the team. They work collaboratively with other teams to support and enhance the overall engineering experience at Scribd.
About The Role
The Senior Engineering Manager for Developer Tooling will lead a team of engineers focused on improving the development experience and productivity of engineering at Scribd. In this role you will lead efforts supporting a broad set of engineers working across multiple platforms & technologies and all of our three product brands. In this role you will have an opportunity to have a significant impact on all of Scribd Engineering 150 developers).
Youll lead a team that shapes the future of development experience at Scribd by:
Driving technical strategy that balances immediate needs with longterm excellence
Spearheading our code AI strategy integrating and customizing AIpowered coding agents while driving meaningful adoption across engineering teams
Scaling developer productivity improvements by strategically implementing AI solutions throughout the development lifecycle with measurable outcomes
Collaborating closely with engineering teams & leaders across Scribd to understand and meet their teams needs
Building and scaling development foundations that power our engineering organization

Key Attributes
4 years of engineering management experience leading highperforming fullstack or platform teams

At Scribd your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role level and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States. In the state of California the reasonably expected salary range is between $175500 minimum salary in our lowest geographic market within California to $273500 maximum salary in our highest geographic market within California.
In the United States outside of California the reasonably expected salary range is between $144500 minimum salary in our lowest US geographic market outside of California to $245000 maximum salary in our highest US geographic market outside of California.
In Canada the reasonably expected salary range is between $181500 CADminimum salary in our lowest geographic market to $269000 CADmaximum salary in our highest geographic market.
We carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation including but not limited to experience; jobrelated skill sets; relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped. In the event that you are considered for a different level a higher or lower pay range would apply.
