We are looking for a dedicated respectful and knowledgeable person to join our Aboriginal Family Led Decision Making team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work directly with community and families to identify relevant and practical family protective and cultural supports that will support the best interest of the young people you are working with. You will assist the convenor to arrange meetings and assist families with their needs to ensure they are able to be present at and participate in meetings and have their voices heard.
Organisational Profile
GEGAC is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Bairnsdale Victoria. Consisting of about 160 staff GEGAC is a NotforProfit organisation that delivers holistic services in the areas of Primary Health Social Services Elders & Disability and Early Childhood Education.
GEGAC advocates for the selfdetermination of the Aboriginal community by prioritising services that enhance social emotional and spiritual wellbeing with culture at the heart of everything we do.
Position Purpose
The primary role of this position is to ensure that referred child protection clients (children & young people) develop and maintain their particular Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (A/ TI) cultural identity to the maximum possible level. These clients are children and young persons who have been removed from their families and now in the custody of Child Protection.
