Job Description
The Colman Education Foundation is seeking an amazing person to join the Our Place team as aCommunity Facilitator 3 days per week) at Carlton.
At Our Place we believe that supporting local schools to be the hub of a whole community is one of the best ways to enable long lasting change in communities experiencing disadvantage. We enable this by working in partnership with local services government and the local community to increase collaboration and to support all children and their families to succeed in life.
Our site in Carlton Our Place was established in 2020 with the vision of: Carlton Learning Precinct is a safe and welcoming community where everyone belongs and children and their families are given every opportunity to thrive.
About the role
Community Facilitators are at the core of the Our Place approach working onsite with the local community and organisation to find ways of better connecting services to community need. The role also supports important work of site governance capturing evidence of changes on the site and implementing the Our Place approach.
Being a Community Facilitator is a varied and unique role. Youll show daytoday leadership by influencing and working with others from different organisations and cultural contexts. Navigating these diverse relationships is at the heart of this work you will need flexibility and grit an ability to manage ambiguity and a desire to learn.
In return youll have the opportunity to demonstrate different ways of working in communities to have the opportunity of working on longterm time horizons and to be part of a statewide group of equally passionate curious and committed colleagues.
If you had been in this role for the past two weeks you would have:
- Made yourself available to listen to and support the education health and wellbeing needs of families
- Worked with local organisations to support warm referrals to services
- Surveyed members of the Carlton Learning Precinct community to inform planning
- Created and shared digital materials to promote onsite activities
- Coordinated a weekly social activity eg Coffee and Chat to connect families to services
- Met with your team to review implementation progress
- Reported on activity participation numbers via the Our Place data platform
- Participated in online Our Place Team and Community Facilitators Community of Practice meetings
