We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated individual to join us as our new Finance Assistant. Reporting to the Financial Controller youll be supporting the whole business in managing daily financial activities. Were looking for someone who can think creatively is responsible and thorough and who aligns with our values. Youll receive coaching from an allstar finance team build an understanding of the importance of an embedded and lean finance function and grow with us on our journey as we scale. This role is a full time position with full study support provided.
In this role youll get to:
Manage accounts payable ensuring precise and timely handling of supplier practitioner and employee expenses aligning with financial policies and procedures.
Maintain the finance inbox and ticketing systems to ensure suppliers clients and the practitioner network receive timely responses to queries.
Collaborate with our commercial team to ensure we collect revenue timely and accurately. Support credit control efforts by following up on outstanding customer payments and maintaining accurate debtor records.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the finance function streamlining systems and tools around expenses bank reconciliations payments runs and collections.
Carry out regular bank reconciliations and support cashflow forecasting by providing accurate accounts payable inputs.
Assist the Management Accountant on monthend and yearend processes including management accounts and statutory audit.
Provide support for compliance/ tax obligations such as IR35 checks VAT GST and other sales taxes.
We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However some experience in the following is important for this position:
Meticulous attention to detail.
Exhibit strong selfmanagement skills in handling workload and tasks.
Enthusiasm for taking on new responsibilities and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Embrace a collaborative approach and value teamwork.
Competent in working with Excel and ideally Google Sheets and of finance stack software (Xero Payhawk).
Other skills and experience would be a plus:
Studying for a tax or accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA CIMA AAT).
Experience in a small business as a Finance Assistant Assistant Accountant or similar role.
Basic understanding of accounting and tax principles (e.g. PAYE VAT NIC).
Recording receipts and payments including credit control.
Experience of liaising with external stakeholders (i.e. customers and suppliers).
