The Opportunity

Our Prairies operations team is currently seeking a skilled Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) Technician to join our Prairies Pipeline team.

Reporting to the Pipeline Manager Prairie Operations (Prairies Pipeline) this EIC Controls Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment (including assigned electronic electrical pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems devices and ancillary equipment gas turbines steam turbines generators boilers fuel gas compressors and PLC & DCS control systems) in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. In this role you will also be required to perform tasks from other disciplines.

The regular work schedule for this position will be:

  • Week 1 Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off
  • Week 2 Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday

What youll do

  • Perform installation testing repair and maintenance on compressor station equipment and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system as required
  • Conduct routine regular maintenance on gas turbine packages gas compressor units and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Troubleshoot test & maintain shutdown devices fire & gas systems auxiliary systems HVAC systems relief and Over Pressure Protection devices control valves PLCs & control systems
  • Install & configure software in control systems
  • Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
  • Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energys Community Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
  • Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low/medium complexity projects including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or thirdparty active control
  • Complete all administrative functions related to position and duties
  • Maintain core operational task qualifications
  • Provide coaching mentoring and training to other personnel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of third year of trades program or 2 years of technical training
  • 2 5 years of related Industry experience
  • Proven excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician certification
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and SAP experience
  • Previous experience with high pressure natural gas
  • Current with technological advances in the compression field

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid drivers license and provide a drivers abstract for review
  • Successfully complete a preemployment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (estimated > 50 of work schedule)
  • Be part of an oncall rotation and provide emergency support as required
  • Be available for overtime extended work hours and callouts as needed
