Position Summary
The Project Manager proactively manages the design and construction efforts necessary to implement selected projects in the Universitys capital budget and maintenance programs for repair renovation and improvement of buildings and facilities. They are responsible for planning and implementing these projects which include negotiating contracts writing RFPs hiring design professionals consultants and contractors to execute the projects. These responsibilities include proactively managing schedule budget quality safety and communications. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian order. Duties And Responsibilities
Assists departmental preparation of annual Capital Budget project requests prepares estimates. Prepares scope definition of approved Capital Budget projects including conceptual sketches and preliminary field measurements necessary for design by others. Assists with specifying materials and equipment for selected projects. Assists with preparation of construction contract documents. Oversees bidding process prepares purchase requisitions and construction contracts. Advises on selection of contractors and vendors. Prepares design and construction schedules. Evaluates performance of design professionals and contractors with respect to schedule performance and quality. Provides field supervision. Coordinates work of contractors and vendors to ensure timely project completion. Issues reports and maintains relationship with affected members of the campus community as work progresses. Recommends approval/disapproval of change orders and processes contractors and vendors invoices insurance certificates etc. associated with construction contract management. Obtains required permits and certificates of occupancy from authorities having jurisdiction. Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years experience with engineering degree or 10 years of involvement in planning estimating and supervising construction and renovation activities. Broad knowledge of construction materials and techniques with basic knowledge of plumbing electrical and HVAC systems. Experienced background in construction contract administration.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in civil electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience at the project managerial level in architectural engineering or construction work. Ability to establish and maintain good working of relationships with administrative faculty and staff clients with vendors and contractors and with the local township and other regulatory authorities.
