DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As the Domestic Animal Health Inspector (DAHI) duties will involve collaborating with Commission and Federal veterinarians as well as various stakeholders to ensure compliance with Commission Rules and Regulations. Specific tasks will include gathering blood samples from horses for prerace and postrace testing while also handling the administrative duties necessary for submitting these samples to the laboratory including their preparation for shipment. In the event of a domestic animal health crisis you will play an essential role in assisting the Bureau of Animal Health by collecting diagnostic samples performing inspections and ensuring adherence to health standards aimed at controlling diseases in economically important domestic animals. This role requires efficient handling of animals the use of physical and chemical restraints the collection of tissue samples for laboratory testing and the inspection of facilities to ensure compliance with cleanliness quarantine licensing and disease control regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Graduation from an approved Veterinary Medical Technology Training program and two 2 years of experience in the raising or handling of animals used for a variety of commercial purposes including food animals and farm animals; or
- A bachelors degree in Biology Animal Science Dairy Science Poultry Science or a closely related area with at least 16 credits in animal science; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Special Requirement:- Possession of a valid class C drivers license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
