The anticipated hiring range for this position is $60000 to $65000. Hiring offers will be determined based on the final candidates qualifications and experience. POSITION SUMMARY
The Corporate Communications and Public Relations (PR) manager is a key member of the Industry Marketing & PR team. Under the direction of the Associate Director Marketing Communications this position is responsible for external communications and public relations efforts to drive awareness of and engagement with the college and its business units.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Associate DirectorIndustry Marketing & Communications and clients to understand marketing objectives target audiences and key messages.
- Contribute to strategic communications plans developed for the college and its external constituencies.
- Help develop relevant newsletters and blog posts for external constituents as appropriate.
- Liaise with the education department keeping Marketing team informed of guest lecturers and events.
- Assist with commencement materials including drafting/editing guest speaker bios and acknowledgements.
- Provide support and develop communications as needed for college events.
- Maintain and update colleges speakers bureau/media resource list and help identify media and other opportunities for college leadership and faculty.
- Respond to incoming media inquiries and facilitate faculty media interviews as assigned.
- Draft bios for new faculty members and overhaul existing CV listings on website to frame them as narrative bios.
- Create and maintain media lists.
- Develop proactive story pitches for print and broadcast outlets.
- Draft and distribute press releases media alerts and creative story pitches that position the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) as an industry leader and increase awareness for its educational offerings conferences and events.
- Oversee results reporting including tracking of media coverage and distribution of weekly media highlights and monthly alumni in the news reports.
- Manage assigned projects to deadline keeping management team members and clients informed of progress potential issues and proposed solutions.
- Attend and provide support at events and meetings as requested.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in Marketing Communications or related field.
Experience:
- Three to four 34 years of public relations or related industry experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Past public relations experience preferably at an agency.
- Knowledge of and passion for food and the food industry.
- Knowledge of media relations databases (Cision Burrelles etc..
- Understanding of consumer and trade food media.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent written verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Sharp proofreading skills a must thorough knowledge of grammar and style.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to distill complex information into easytounderstand compelling written materials for both trade and consumer media and members of the industry.
