Field Services Tech I

Essential Functions:

1. Collection of groundwater surface water wastewater samples soil and air samples for analytical analysis.
2. Set up and maintains equipment to monitor and collect ambient air samples.
3. Operates company vehicles in compliance with all local state federal and company rules and in accordance with generally accepted practices of safe driving.
4. Interface directly with clients to determine needs and to solve problems concerning their specific job.
5. Cleans repairs and verifies calibrations of sampling equipment.
6. Ensures company vehicles are properly maintained and contain all required testing equipment. Replace expendables as necessary.
7. Maintains records as required for compliance with all state and federal rules and regulations.
8. Properly use and care for all assigned materials/equipment.
9. Promptly reports all delays due to weather breakdowns and any other emergency.
10. Promptly reports all accidents involving company equipment.
11. Requires overnight travel to project sites both local and regional.
12. Research quotes for equipment purchases for both inhouse and clients.
13. Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. A degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Studies Science or Biology.
2. Must complete OSHA HazWoper 40hr course and maintain certification by completing 8hr Refresher course annually.
3. Requires a valid drivers license and clean driving record.
4. Ability to drive a vehicle safely.
5. Ability to work independently.
6. Capable and willing to work outdoors in varying conditions.
7. Ability to identify and adapt procedures to fit field conditions.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
9. Ability to fulfill commitments regarding timeliness of work and meets service requirements of the client.
10. Ability to operate troubleshoot and maintain instruments and equipment.
11. A flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedules as needed to meet project deadlines and client needs.

Physical Demands

• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Standing for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Duties frequently involve repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination. Testing priorities and timelines may serve as a source of emotional stress.
• Occasional heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 30 lbs. of force may occasionally be required. While performing the duties of this job good manual dexterity for the use of laboratory equipment is needed. The employee is occasionally required to walk lift carry push pull climb stoop kneel crouch reach handle grasp and feel.
• Use of applicable Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory.
