Position Summary
The Department of Kinesiology in the School of Education and Health Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a fulltime non tenuretrack Assistant or Associate Professor in Athletic Training to begin fall 2025. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member in the master of athletic training program and kinesiology department advise and mentor athletic training students engage in scholarship and support the athletic training program. The candidate will be able to identify an area of contemporary expertise within athletic training. An ongoing or developing scholarly agenda within the context of athletic training including that related to clinical practice social determinants of health health informatics health equity or scholarship of athletic training education is of particular interest. In addition to the Master of Athletic Training program the School of Education and Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate health professions programs including Exercise Science Nutrition Science Health Science Physical Therapy Occupational Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies in a collaborative and interprofessional environment. The duties in this role include: Serve as a core faculty member in the master of athletic training program and kinesiology department. Teach courses a 20 credithour load. Design assessment strategies. Evaluate student work and progression of learning. Support strategies to teach and evaluate all relevant CAATE curricular standards. Mentor athletic training students and preathletic training students. Maintain an active professional development agenda. Maintain an active scholarly agenda. Engage in departmental initiatives. Engage in institutional initiatives. Basic qualifications are required at the time of application: A postprofessional masters degree in a related field. Licensed or eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in Illinois. Certified athletic trainer by the Board of Certification. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. Preferred qualifications (not required qualifications for the position): A doctoral degree or an inprogress doctoral degree. Skilled in using innovative and studentcentered pedagogical strategies are particularly valued.
