This role is crucial in providing digital content accessibility support to academic units across the university ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations to enhance the learning experience for all students. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accessibility requirements coupled with excellent communication and organizational skills. Job Description Summary
The Program Manager Content Accessibility under direction plans organizes directs and manages daytoday activities developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the Digital Content Accessibility Program. The Program Manager will lead efforts to support faculty and staff in the remediation and creation of accessible digital content in compliance with the Digital Accessibility Final Rule standards.
Responsibilities
Program Development and Management:
Manages digital accessibility initiatives provide training and resources to include the development and facilitation of programs including digital content accessibility training seminars and workshops for faculty and staff and the development and production of materials designed for the program.
Generates digital content accessibility reports for university administrators.
Plans organizes directs and manages daytoday activities for the program.
Manages the development implementation and presentation of accessibility initiatives for digital content and tracks progress of digital content accessibility initiatives to ensure compliance with accessibility standards and regulations.
Develops and implements procedures for the administration of the program.
Leadership and Supervision:
Manages a team of student workers who will assist in digital content remediation and accessibility improvements across campus.
Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program.
Communication and Collaboration:
Maintains and develops communications between partners by attending meetings and conference calls.
Works with academic department heads and faculty to promote and implement accessibility best practices.
Schedules faculty and staff training and coordinate resources.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in instructional design educational technology computer science accessibility studies or related field.
Five years related experience with a minimum of three years of experience in digital accessibility instructional design or a related role in higher education including supervisory experience.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
Certification in digital accessibility (e.g. Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) Accessible Document Specialist (ADS) or equivalent.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
Strong project management skills with the ability to plan implement and evaluate programs and services.
Ability to think and act strategically.
Strong organization and communication skills including verbal and written communication problem solving and decision making.
Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with crossfunctional teams in an academic environment.
Strong knowledge of digital accessibility standards including WCAG Section 508 and ADA compliance.
Proficiency with accessibility tools such as Ally Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Office accessibility checkers and screen readers.
Preferred Special Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro
Knowledge of the Canvas Learning Management Systems.
Experience with HTML CSS and web accessibility principles.
