Are you a passionate fundraising professional looking to make a significant impact in collegiate athletics San Diego State University is seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team as the Assistant Director of Development.
About the Role:As the Assistant Director of Development Athletics you will be at the forefront of our fundraising efforts working under the guidance of the Associate Athletic Director of Development. Your mission will be to identify cultivate and secure major gifts of $25000 and above while also contributing to annual gift strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the effectiveness and results of gift solicitations for the Department of Athletics.
- Independently manage relationships with identified donors developing and executing tailored projects and strategies.
- Coordinate and support stewardship activities to ensure donors receive personalized meaningful communication and involvement.

Position Information
- This is a fulltime atwill role offering comprehensive benefits.
- Position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
- Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs.
- The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
University Relations and Development (URAD) shares the universitys vision and mission underscored in the 2020 fiveyear strategic plan. The Department of Athletics
The Department of Athletics utilizing the services of over 150 employees is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently there are 18 sport programs approximately 450 studentathletes and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club Administration Athletic Medicine Business Office Compliance Corporate Sales Development Equipment Event Management/Facilities and Operations Human Resources Information Technology Marketing Media Relations Strength and Conditioning StudentAthlete Academic Support Services Ticket Office and Video.
The mission of the Aztec Club is to promote the total athletic program at SDSU; solicit private annual contributions as a means to accomplish these purposes; and to sponsor or host activities designed to enhance the Athletic Department while providing alumni donors and fans a vehicle to remain loyal to SDSU Athletics.

Education and Experience
- A bachelors degree in relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of progressive development experience or related work such as sales marketing communications and community or public relations.
- A minimum of 1 year of direct experience in personal gift solicitation and fundraising. $10000
Key Qualifications
- Success in gift fundraising $10K) that demonstrates an ability to align strategy development/implementation with preapproved goals/priorities.
- Experience working with volunteers and with corporate executives.
- A high degree of interest in and commitment to higher education and philanthropy and the ability to articulate a compelling case for annual support of a public institution of higher education.
- Ability to interpret biographical corporate and foundation information and to prepare concise written profiles and summaries of donor/prospect information.
- Proficiency with microcomputer applications (i.e. email; word processing; spreadsheet presentation software and database applications) and other reference sources and tools.
- Must have the ability to travel and attend offcampus appointments and events during nonbusiness hours.
