Adjunct Faculty Position MCOD 218C & 219C

NHTI Concords Community College
Position Type: Parttime adjunct
Semester: Fall 2025
Compensation: $800 $950 per credit based on adjunct faculty rank (determined by education and experience)

Position Overview:
NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach MCOD 218C Advanced Hospital Coding and MCOD 219C Ambulatory Coding. These courses provide students with essential knowledge in medical coding focusing on practical applications and realworld relevance.

Course Description:
MCOD 218C Advanced Hospital Coding

Provides more complex cases using medical record reports. Students must read and interpret data utilizing prior learned skills. The 3M computerized encoding and grouping system will be employed to provide experience in utilizing technology to select codes and to calculate DRG payments for prospective payment systems. The student will expand on and apply the principles of reimbursement and coding derived from Introduction to Hospital Diagnosis Coding and Introduction to Hospital Procedure Coding at an advanced level. The student will use the AHA Official Inpatient Coding Guidelines to accurately identify and sequence the principal diagnosis and procedure. Coding discussions will include determining which diagnoses or procedures should be included as secondary.

MCOD 219C Ambulatory Coding

Presents hospital ambulatory coding using CPT coding systems for procedures and ICD10CM coding system for diagnoses. Ambulatory reimbursement and payment systems are presented including prospective payment system and regulatory compliance issues. The course will include an introduction to ambulatory coding and applying the principles to medical record documentation. The 3M computerized encoding and grouping system will be employed to provide experience in utilizing technology to select codes and to calculate payments for prospective payment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach the assigned course using provided curriculum and instructional materials aligned with program standards.
  • Facilitate class discussions assignments and assessments to foster student engagement and learning.
  • Provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Maintain professional currency in the field and comply with college policies and standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Masters degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major study in a subject area closely related to the teaching field
  • Experience: Prior teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas (or similar LMS) preferred.
  • Residency: Must reside in NH VT ME MA RI or CT.
