General Definition of Work
Performs protective service work to maintain safety and security within the facility. Provide information to other facilities by email phone or in written form. Handle complaints settling disputes and resolving conflicts between inmates. Ensuring all paper work correct for all new intake of inmates and all discharges of inmates. Complete knowledge in the RMS system Dynamic Imaging Predatory Offender registration system radio usage telephone system first aid CPR and Minnesota Repository of Arrest Photos. Ability to control extremely stressful situations yet still stay calm enough to provide the aid and assistance that is needed at that time for that situation to that inmate. Have intimate understanding of the Use of Force Statute and the ability to apply that statute to that situation and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Jail Administrator.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the security rules regulations and procedures of the institution; thorough knowledge of the practices of modern penology as related to the supervision and care of persons under institutionalized restraint; general knowledge of the methods of operating various communications systems including two way radios; comprehensive skill communicating using various communication systems; comprehensive skill keeping accurate and detailed records pertaining to services provided and prepare reports; comprehensive skill completing records checks; thorough knowledge of operating standard office equipment and related hardware and software; thorough skill of inmate medical records and data works finger printing system dynamic imaging handcuffs and leg shackles X26 taser and restraint chair operations. Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers fractions and decimals compute rates ratios and percentages; ability to deal with upset irate irrational people in differing stages of intoxication in a cool calm and collected manner; ability to multitask and keep in mind the task at hand; ability to give clear concise and direct instructions verbally; general knowledge of inmate accounting records and pipe time recordkeeping system. Ability to speak distinctly; ability to deal with the public under stressful conditions and remain calm; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to multi task; ability to complete an inmate jail count; ability to calculate inmate release dates; ability to count prescriptions; ability to understand and work with several different personality and culture types; ability to make quick and accurate decisions; ability to display knowledge of inmate rights and laws associated with inmate rights; ability to enforce institutional rules firmly and fairly; ability to detect potential behavior problems of inmates; ability to detect the early symptoms of common health problems; ability to carry out oral and written directions accurately; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to supervise the activities of large groups of inmates; general skill in 2911 code book I.E. DOC rules and regulations; comprehensive skill in LCSO Jail policy and procedure manual maintenance manual for miscellaneous equipment and LETG manual; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications: Associates/technical degree in criminal justice law enforcement or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the occasional exertion of over 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires walking speaking or hearing frequently using hands to finger handle or feel reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions ; occasionally requires sitting stooping kneeling crouching or crawling pushing or pulling and lifting climb or balance; work requires ability for close and distance vision adjust focus depth perception night vision and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and detailed or loud talking to convey detailed or important instructions to others accurately loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office light traffic).

The incumbent may encounter not public data in the course of these duties. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished incumbent must properly store the not public data according to the provisions Ch. 13. If a new work assignment requires access to not public data the incumbent is permitted to access not public data for the work assignment purposes only. Any access to not public data must be strictly limited to the data necessary to complete the work assignment and after the assignment is completed the employees work assignment no longer requires access.
Minimum Qualifications

Salary Range:$26.41 $37.37 per hour.
