Class Summary
- Job Description
This Recreation Leader will provide onsite educational programming as well as mobile kitchen programming at summer camps senior centers and afterschool programs. This position will assist with leading community outreach and garden volunteer workdays and maintain crops at all sites.
Essential Duties- Completing administrative tasks such as processing gardener application payments
- Facilitating educational programs with youth adults and seniors 10 to 25 participants)
- Working and interacting with participants in a positive manner
- Providing a safe learning environment
- Driving a large box truck and van
- Working weekends and evening for programs and events as needed
- Managing multiple projects and organizing priorities
Public Speaking Duties- Leading educational programs in front of 10 to 25 people of various age groups (adults seniors youth)
- Attending outreach events to promote upcoming programs and educate the public about the mission of Live Healthy Gwinnett
Other Job Requirements/Information- This job requires posthire fingerprinting.
Grade
Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications- High school or GED AND
- One year of classroom/childcare supervisory experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid drivers license
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications- Associate degree in horticulture agriculture environmental science nutrition or a related field

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services Fire and Emergency Services Corrections Communications Support Services Financial Services Community Services Human Resources Information Technology Services Law Planning and Development Water Resources Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the Countys values.
In addition to the executive side of County government certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law.
