Job Description:
The Hardware Quality Engineer (HQE) is Responsible for the Hardware and Supplier Quality Engineering for ComCept and the AAS suite of Programs. These products and services are provided to our customers.This role is Hardware Quality Assurance. Primary tasks are to review inspect and audit products and ensure process compliance on programs developing and producing hardware for our customers. This is accomplished through defined processoriented activities evaluations oversight and continuous improvements activities which ensure the quality of the engineering processes products and services. HQE engages with the programs to perform these activities throughout the entire development and production lifecycle which includes contract review production orders design and development testing operations and final inspection and documentation reviews activities. The success of the products and services depend on process compliance product conformance to requirements and the quality of the end product or service.
The HQE works to ensure processes are implemented and followed on assigned programs for complete oversight of the program activities. These quality and production processes if followed will ensure within the collaborative program teams to ensure continued compliance to all requirements verification of a defectfree quality product that meets customer needs. Continuous process improvement methods are needed to monitor the processes and product for trend analysis and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction metrics. The HQE is responsible for proactive reporting of all known and potential issues and risks to the program team management and external customers as required.
Essential Functions:
A HQEs tasks may include but are not limited to the following
- Interfaces with Program Management Engineering Operations Management Customers (including customer representatives like FAA QRO DCMA etc. Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure contractual requirements are met.
- Review of the contract statement of work and subcontracts for understanding of all requirements.
- Implement audit plans to assure compliance to internal requirements and external standards per program requirements (AS9100 ISO 9001 etc.
- Perform crossfunctional knowledge transfer at the program level to provide the Hardware / Supplier Quality expectations for a Quality product.
- Support the program operations and engineering team to ensure Quality Assurance at all levels as well as support of internal and external company audits.
- Collaborate and support R&D teams in the development of Hardware Production items along with integration support.
- Review program plans deliverables manuals release notes purchase orders etc. for completeness and compliance.
- Review materials and participate in all milestone reviews to approve requirements design test and product final inspections etc.
- Actively participate in and verify all change management process Change Control Boards (CCBs) drawing updates etc.
- Review production and supplier metrics perform trend analysis and facilitate Root Cause and Corrective Action activities to drive reduction in Cost of Poor Quality and drive 0 customer escapes.
- Manage damaged hardware processing and incident reporting.
- Inspect deliverables and review final acceptance test procedure (ATP)
- Utilize defect tracking database for management of product issues and facilitation of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.
- Inspect incoming supplier parts and calibration equipment from external sources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Quality Mission Assurance Hardware Quality or related engineering field minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.
- Educational background or experience within a high paced production manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles and quality improvement methods.
- Understanding of drawings configuration management and change management practices.
- Experience working with DOD Government or other agencies working in a fastpaced environment.
- Understanding of process improvement practices and their implementation.
- Ability to work effectively on a team yet maintain professional Quality independence.
- Excellent written oral presentation and team skills.
- Travel as needed.
- Security Clearance required upon hire: Ability to Obtain
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement and AS 9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems experience.
- Knowledge of and/or understanding of quality and manufacturing in an ISO 9001 or AS 9100 facilities.
- Knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
- Familiarity with various factory floor operating systems SAP Oracle Athena Tableau
