Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision* of the Director/Pharmacy Supervisor/Pharmacy or a Pharmacist performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospitalwide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program. Responsible for maintaining confidential reports entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system preparing intravenous medications (IV) (e.g. chemotherapeutic preparations hyper alimentations and antibiotics) filling automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies delivering supplies to patient care areas and managing pharmacy automation. Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g. documenting medication histories chemotherapy IV compounding preparing sterile IV medications inventorying narcotics or maintaining pharmacy inventory). Assists in training/educating lowerlevel pharmacy technicians. *Direct Supervision. A pharmacist gives specific instructions on all assignments. A pharmacist reviews the technicians work for completeness and accuracy or the technician performs tasks with inherent checks built into the nature of the work.
