Job Description

This position is situated within MacKillop Education Maidstone (MacKillop Special Assistance School Grades 36 and reports to the Education and Wellbeing Coordinator.

MacKillop Education Maidstone caters for students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. MacKillop Education informed by our Catholic ethos and values is committed to equity and access to learning for all children and young people. We believe in the transformative and liberating power of education supported by a safe community that strives for excellence enabling every student to flourish and achieve their full potential. The ratio of staff to students in each classroom as 1:4. We provide an individualised and differentiated learning program for each student. Students may reenter mainstream school or remain at MacKillop to complete their primary schooling years.

MacKillop Education caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to MacKilllop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma and their needs are complex and diverse; selfregulation is difficult for some of our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours.


We have one permanent fulltime opportunity available based in Maidstone VICwithin our MacKillop Education Program.


About the role:

Were looking for a passionate and dedicated Education Support professional to be part of our vibrant community at MacKillop Maidstone Campus. In this exciting role youll play a crucial part in creating an inspiring and inclusive learning environment where students thrive.

As an Education Support staff member youll work closely with Classroom Teachers and Intervention Teachers to enhance both the academic and emotional wellbeing of our students. Youll have the opportunity to engage directly with students helping them stay focused and supported in the classroom. Whether youre coregulating with students providing oneonone support or assisting in small group settings your efforts will make a real difference in their educational journey.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children young people and their families.
  • Relevant work experience and a minimum Diploma Qualification Certificate IV in Education Support or Special needs or equivalent.
  • An understanding and commitment to the objectives and values of the organisation including Sanctuary Commitments as outlined above and a capacity to represent MacKillop values as required by the role.
  • An understanding of teaching and learning strategies and the ability to implement these as required.

You must have a:

  • Valid and current Drivers Licence;
  • Satisfactory Criminal History Check;
  • Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
  • Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles)
