Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of their organization. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in nonprofit accounting and public accounting with a strategic mindset and the ability to lead a small but dedicated finance team. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting effective treasury management and compliance with federal and state regulations including grant reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare analyze and present monthly quarterly and annual financial statements to senior leadership and the Board.

  • Manage the organizations treasury functions including cash flow forecasting and bank account management.

  • Oversee monthly financial reporting ensuring accuracy timeliness and alignment with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.

  • Lead and manage the finance team including Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable and Staff Accountants in partnership with an external accounting firm.

  • Structure and negotiate loan agreements and maintain banking relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state grant reporting requirements.

  • Develop and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with leadership aligning financial planning with strategic goals.

  • Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes to support operational efficiency and transparency.

  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations that may impact the organization.

  • Support the annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors and advisors.



Requirements


  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field is required.

  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 710 years of progressive accounting and finance experience including nonprofit experience.

  • Prior experience in public accounting is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.

  • Demonstrated experience with federal grant compliance and reporting.

  • Excellent communication analytical and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
