Job Description
ASPHALT ROLLER OPERATOR
M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established successful construction firm located in Eldersburg MD. We are searching for an experienced committed careerminded Roller Operator to be part of our growing team in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and desires to be part of a skilled construction team.
The Asphalt Roller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the roller. This positions operates a roller with is used to compact and smooth all bituminous materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manipulate hand and/or foot controls including pedals levers and buttons to regulate speed and direction of assigned equipment
- Operate assigned equipment in compliance with the companys operating safety policies and procedures
- Follow all equipment monitoring and maintenance requirements.
- Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality
- Report needed repairs to appropriate parties
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to understand verbal orders
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards
- Must comply with municipality requirements specifications safety standards and company policies
- Keen attention to detail and awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Reliable transportation
SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:
- FullTime NonExempt Position
- Salary based on knowledge and experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold and heat conditions
- The work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise grease and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required
WORKING HOURS/EXPECTATIONS:
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- While performing this jobs duties the employee is regularly required to stand walk reach with hands and arms balance stoop bend kneel or crouch on all different types of terrain.
- Frequent bending twisting and standing
- The employee is also regularly required to talk hear smell and use hands to finger handle or feel.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on occasions
- Must be able to sit for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to pass a Drug Screen
EDUCATION:
- High school or equivalent is preferred
LICENSES CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver License preferred
NONESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1year operating paving equipment experience
