Job Title: German Fundraising Intern
Location: Barcelona Spain
Reporting into: Country Manager Germany
Contract Term: 6 months

Street Child is a charity dedicated to ensuring every child is safe in school and learning through a holistic approach that targets all barriers to a childs education. We empower some of the most vulnerable children in the world by giving them the chance to go to school and providing their families with the sustainable means to keep them there. At Street Child we are lucky to have fantastic volunteers committed keeping overheads low so that as much funding a possible can go to our projects in Sub Saharan Africa Europe and Asia. We are currently looking for a fulltime 33 hours/week) German intern to join us in our Barcelona or Munich office. The preferred internship duration is 6 months; however shorter durations can be discussed.

Street Child embraces skill diversity among interns and we are more than happy according to our current needs to craft tasks depending on the personal qualities of the intern and/or give the intern freedom to apply his/her/their personal skills.

You will be part of a small team led by the Street Child Country Manager Germany.

Below are some examples of your responsibilities:

Intern Individual Giving & Major Donors

  • Developing fundraising campaigns: (in collaboration with Marketing & Communication) aimed at individual donors
  • Managing existing donors: (e.g. regular communication thankyou notes personalized updates)
  • Donor Journey: Contributing to and optimizing the donor lifecycle (from first contact to longterm retention)
  • Data maintenance in CRM: (donor database KPI tracking campaign analysis)
  • Planning and supporting donor events: (e.g. small appreciation events)

Intern Institutional and Corporate Partnerships

  • Identifying new partnership opportunities with companies and public institutions and other NGOs
  • Market observation and strategy development (monitoring trends identifying potential new partners)
  • Public policy research: conducting research about policy trends on the European and national level
  • Conceptualizing project and collaboration ideas (e.g. for joint campaigns or sponsorships)
  • Proposal writing for private and public funding drawing on knowledge of past current and upcoming Street Child projects

Intern Communication / Public Relations

  • Content creation for the website social media channels and newsletters
  • PR work (drafting press releases)
  • Design of marketing materials (flyers brochures posters)
  • Coordination of online campaigns awarenessraising activities and Street Child events like the Sierra Leone Marathon & Cycling Challenge
  • Support strategic development of Communication & Marketing

Requirements / Key characteristics (general)

  • Motivation & initiative: You are committed can work independently and are keen to take on responsibility.
  • Interest in nonprofit work: You identify with Street Childs mission and ideally have a basic understanding of the NGO sector.
  • Language skills: For our team in Barcelona fluent German (written/spoken) and good English skills are required.
  • Strong communication: You communicate effectively both in writing and verbally (e.g. for mailings calls social media).
  • Team spirit & flexibility: We work across different areas so you should enjoy collaboration and be able to adapt quickly to new topics.
  • Common software skills: Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) and online tools (email social media) are beneficial.

Areaspecific requirements (a plus no need):

  • A head for numbers and attention to detail: Assisting with donation receipts budget overviews and data maintenance.
  • Empathetic & creative communication: You enjoy engaging with donors sending thankyou notes and providing updates.
  • Structured approach and selforganization to CRM management donor segmentation and campaign evaluation

Areas of university studies:

  • It ncludes but are not limited to marketing international relations political science human rights development economics or global affairs.
