Flightstar is currently seeking a Lead Aircraft Mechanic to support our maintenance operations on 1st shift. The ideal candidate will have several years of aircraft maintenance experience supporting MRO operations.
Position Summary
The Lead Aircraft Mechanic leads and directs the assigned crew in performing maintenance functions including servicing repairing and/or replacing aircraft components to ensure airworthiness according to customer specifications and FAA standards. Performs as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) of their trade and willingly takes on the responsibility to mentor junior level aircraft mechanics through OntheJobTraining (OJT). Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads and directs the assigned crew in performing maintenance functions including servicing and repairing aircraft and engines to ensure airworthiness according to customer specifications and FAA standards.
- Ensures and enforces proper of parts tag instructions (repairable serviceable or condemned parts). Ensures that all serviceable tags are installed on components or placed in the proper work package. Ensures that aircraft parts and components removed from the aircraft in work are routed to the appropriate cage and with timely documentation in accordance with Flightstars standard operating procedures.
- Ensures proper identification of work scope of all assigned work and ensures that all necessary FAA approved technical data is available.
- In conjunction with Production Control assigns planned work to his/her crew in a fashion that maximizes productivity and consistently monitors performance of the work.
- Maintains responsibility for the quality efficiency and timeliness of his/her own work as well as for the work performed by his/her crew.
- Provides on the job instruction and training regarding aircraft work and standard operating procedures and safety standards to personnel assigned to the work crew.
- Reviews nonroutine card to identify planned action in a timely manner. Accurately identifies necessary parts materials and tooling for each nonroutine job and estimates maintenance on nonroutine card in a timely manner and with the best possible precision.
- Monitors and controls the flow and control and completion as necessary of work documents in his/her area of responsibility.
- Has flexibility to arrive early and stay late in accordance with scheduled work times when required to permit smooth turnover to the incoming and/or outgoing shift.
- Interfaces with customer representatives as assigned to ensure that customer approval has been obtained for original additional or revised work estimates.
- Removes and installs aircraft engines rigs and adjusts aircraft secondary systems and performs all duties required of licensed mechanics as necessary.
- Reads maintenance manuals to identify and locate aircraft components on the aircraft and accurately implements instructions of maintenance manuals.
- Performs maintenance related tasks on noted discrepancies and effectively researches manufacturers manuals for appropriate procedure prior to performing task.
- Uses basic or complex hand tools or equipment provided to perform skilled manual and technical work as instructed.
- Possesses working knowledge of ATA Codes (Chapter and Subchapters) as well as aircraft zones narrow body airframe familiarization and industry standards.
- Reads instructions and all cautions/warnings/notes information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work. Prepares and maintains simple records such as work order documentation logs and time and material records as instructed.
- Proficient in Flightstars integrated operating systems relating to locating parts alternate part numbers and requesting of parts and tools.
- Responsible for maintaining current on all required regulatory and customer training.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Written and spoken English fluency.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
- Current FAA Airframe License in good standing.
- Minimum five 5 years of experience providing knowledge of aircraft maintenance terminology parts etc. Familiar with 14 CFR Part 91/121/145 preferred.
- Proficiency navigating ERP systems and customers maintenance manuals.
