  • Award: Level 42 Social Community Home Care & Disability Services Award 2010
  • Location: Minus18 Office at the Victorian Pride Centre 7981 Fitzroy St St Kilda VIC. This role includes Hybrid & Weekend work with some inter state travel arrangements
  • Salary: $96340.87 Full Time Salary Package (NonPBI Equivalent) Super includes:
  • Base Pay $87339.20
  • Up to $6385.95 in taxsavings via our offered charity salary packaging.

Minus18 is Australias charity improving the lives of LGBTQIA youth. We support LGBTQIA young people through events and digital platforms and provide fee for service LGBTQIA inclusion training to schools businesses and community organisations. Since 2011 over 100000 young people have engaged in these services across Melbourne Sydney and Adelaide and millions more via digital platforms.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

As the Events Lead for Minus18 you will play a pivotal role in leading the planning and delivery of our annual event calendar of life affirming LGBTQIA youth events. Minus18 youth events are inclusive spaces with activities performers DJs and dance floors for LGBTQIA youth aged 12 19 years old. These events which range from small scale digital events to highenergy events with 750 young people are currently held online and at venues across Melbourne Sydney and Adelaide.

With your passion for event management and dedication to promoting inclusivity you will work with a number of teams at Minus18 to bring these spaces to life including:

  • The Youth Safety Lead to ensure these spaces are safe and accessible for youth.
  • The Youth Programs Team Lead to support with volunteers within these events.
  • The Marketing Team to promote these spaces.
  • The Sponsorship & Partnership Coordinator to maintain sponsors.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

EVENT PLANNING & COORDINATION

  • Lead the Events team to develop the Annual Events Calendar
  • Develop and execute comprehensive event plans timelines for the delivery of large scale LGBTQIA Youth events ensuring alignment with Minus18 strategic goals funder requirements and participant outcomes.
  • Identify and secure suitable event venues catering services audiovisual equipment and other necessary resources for successful event .
  • Coordinate with vendors suppliers and performers to ensure all event logistics are effectively managed.
  • Identify and address potential risks related to event planning & implementing appropriate safety measures and contingency plans.
  • Manage event budgets including tracking expenses cost negotiation and ensuring responsible financial management.
  • Manage & coordinate event inventory.
  • Work with the marketing team to support the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies to promote events and gain sign ups.
  • Utilise various communication channels to reach the LGBTQIA Youth Community and broader audiences to promote events and create community within participants.
  • Ensure event best practices are implemented maintained and documented in both in person and digital events.
  • Provide support to the Sponsorships & Partnerships Coordinator in the coordination of logistics of sponsors within programs.
  • Maintain an active ability to manage and resolve program conflicts respectfully and work from a solutionbased approach.
  • Source and collaborate with diverse speakers and performers to create engaging and impactful events.

EVENT DELIVERY

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of LGBTQIA issues youthrelated challenges and the important of creating safe spaces.
  • Implement appropriate measures to address accessibility and accomodation requirements for attendees.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Programs Team Lead to ensure that events align with the needs and interests of LGBTQIA youth participants.
  • Ensure sponsors and funders are effectively supported within events.
  • Support in the coordination of a team of volunteers to support in the delivery of events.
  • Oversee and coordinate event logistics during events including preparing run sheets hosting bump in/out and coordination of performers and contractors.
  • Work with the Youth Safety Lead to respond to critical incidents at events

EVENT EVALUATION

  • Regularly collect feedback from attendees and participants to ensure event delivery is aligned with the needs of LGBTQIA Young People.
  • Prepare postevent reports including feedback and outcomes.
  • Actively evaluate the success of each event and identify areas for improvement with recommendations.
  • Contribute to crossevent knowledge sharing within your team.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The ideal candidate has:

  • Relevant qualification in Event Management Hospitality Communications or a related field is desirable
  • Proven experience in planning and managing largescale events particularly in the LGBTQIA or youthfocussed sectors
  • Strong understanding of LGBTQIA issues including familiarity with youthrelated challenges and child safety
  • Exceptional organisation time management and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with the capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Demonstrated passion for Minus18s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA youth

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • A Victorian drivers license. Regular access to a car is desired but not required.
  • A successful Police Background Check and Working With Children Check (WWCC) are required for this role. These can be obtained once an offer of employment is made and before role commencement.
  • Proof of full COVID19 vaccination status.
