Job Details:

This is professional and moderately complex technical work analyzing designing implementing and maintaining departmental automated/computerized systems.
Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under limited supervision. Work in this class is distinguished by its advanced technical and operational skills.


This position is responsible for supporting the overall operation of GRUs OMS/ADMS system responsible for monitoring and controlling the electrical grid outages. Support includes troubleshooting of data issues database updating and daytoday maintenance of the OMS/ADMS system. Support will include the daytoday needs of Control Center Operations and other end users. It is a requirement that supporting the OMS/ADMS realtime operations will include off hours support as part of an oncall rotation. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills and teamwork.

Coordinate with EMS (Energy Management System) and OMS (Outage Management System) personnel to update the ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) on a weekly basis.
Administer the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) including training technical and functional support. Maintain the distribution model.
Provide daytoday OMS/ADMS support by effectively responding to the needs of control room operating staff field personnel and other end users.
Application monitoring and support for the OMS/ADMS environment.
Actively participate in support and troubleshooting problems in all aspects of the OMS/ADMS system and specifically data quality issues including:
Data quality and consistency issues for the near realtime updating of OMS/ADMS. Data mapping between the existing EMS environment and the DOMS/ADMS system.
Data mapping between the DOMS/ADMS system and the ADMS/OMS environment.




To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Below are the required education experience knowledge skills and abilities to perform the essential functions.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering Technology Computer Science or other technical discipline
Three or more years of prior experience with EMS/OMS/ADMS systems in a transmission or distribution utility setting

Experienced in the implementation and maintenance of largescale OMS/ADMS systems running on a major vendor platform: OSII GE ABB AVEVA (Schneider) Siemens etc...

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Depending on area of assignment:

Analyzes designs identifies prioritizes and resolves reported problems including data account administration email desktop and application issues.

Evaluates hardware/software needs and training/documentation.

Designs implements and administers automated/computerized systems such as SCADA Outage Management EMS Geographic Information Systems computer aided dispatch systems and work management and tracking systems.

Performs needs assessments at departmental level.

Produces data information and reports.

Corrects program errors or affects modifications of departmental automated/computerized systems by revising coded instructions or altering the sequence of operations.

Communicates with vendors to evaluate new hardware and software solutions and to discuss existing problems and issues.

Performs inhouse technical training for users.

Develops and writes computer programs for input and retrieval of specific documents data and information.

Configures departmental software applications and servers to ensure high availability.

Designs user interfaces applying graphic and creative artistic skills

Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in information technology computer sciences computer programming information science networks system engineering and three(3 years of progressively responsible Information Technology experience relevant to the needs and subject matter of the hiring department or An Associate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in information technology computer sciences computer programming information sciences or system engineering and five 5 years of progressively responsible Information Technology experience relevant to the needs and subject matter of the hiring department or

Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and current generally accepted certification in an IT area of expertise and five 5 years of Information Technology experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience which provide the required knowledge ability and skills. Certification and experience must be relevant to the needs and subject matter of the hiring department.

Candidates with Bachelor or Associate degrees may be able to apply active certification from an industry accepted licensing organization in database network security management and implementation or department specific software toward experience requirements.

Applicants assigned to Police or Fire must have no conviction of a felony or a misdemeanor involving moral character perjury or making false statements; nor after July 1 1981 have pled guilty or nolo contendre to or have been found guilty of any such crimes. Applicants current lifestyle and recent history must be free of illicit or illegal drug use.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully an individual must possess certain physical abilities and be able to withstand work related environmental conditions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is sedentary and requires prolonged hours of sitting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

May be required to travel locally to other general government or GRU locations within the Gainesville area.

May be required to work afterhours and provide weekend support.
