Position Summary
- Provides customer service to MSU Community and the public. Responds or informs supervisory staff of complaints comments and/or unmet service needs.
- Assists workers in the review of banquet event orders check menu details and sets up banquet rooms for service by obtaining and properly placing tablecloths napkins skirting silverware china and other required items.
- Oversees the service of all courses of established menu answering questions regarding such things as food ingredients or processes. Includes maintenance and service of buffets and receptions when applicable.
- Leads oversees and assists in cleaning banquet rooms and kitchen service areas and utensils such as silverware according to prescribed sanitary standards.
- Cleans and assists in maintaining banquet equipment and decorations.
- Assists in the removal of soiled dishes and silverware from events space.
- Assists in training of student employees.
- Performs cleaning duties such as sweeping dust mopping floor vacuuming bathrooms and residence kitchen and showers.
- Dust and washes windows mirrors interior glass window casings and tracks venetian blinds ledges furniture equipment and other household items.
- Spot washes walls chairs and sofas.
- Empties waste containers.
- Washes & irons clothing and linen makes beds and changes linen.
- Cleans garage basement residence oven and refrigerator.
- Operates and maintains lightweight cleaning equipment such as vacuums and rug shampooer.
- Reports any damage malfunction or irregularity of the building or equipment to supervisor or proper authority.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies in accordance with cleaning and service needs.
- Stocks guest quarters and restrooms with supplies such as soap tissue and towels.
- Follow University departmental and OSHA safety regulations.
Perform related duties as assigned including but not necessarily limit to the following:
- Oversees the work of assigned student support employees.
- Instructs assigned support employees in the proper cleaning methods techniques and procedures and safety requirements.
- Oversees assigned employees during Cowles House functions to provide elevated levels of service guests and the first family.
- Provides care and service to guests and first family members with special needs
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of grade school education or an equivalent combination of training and experience is necessary.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods techniques and equipment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends.
- Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
