The Boeing CompanyBoeing Global Services (BGS) is currently seeking a MidLevel or Lead Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team in Long Beach CA applying Engineering knowledge/principles tools and techniques to a continuing series of upgrades and improvements to the C17 Globemaster III aircraft.
Position Responsibilities:
- Avionics Systems Engineering position for the C17 Military Airlifter Program within the Avionics/Flight Management & Software Engineering organization located in Long Beach California. Changes in Avionics technology require continuous upgrade and engineering evaluation of present/future capability. As an Avionics Systems Engineer the selected candidate will rapidly integrate into the team and apply an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis system requirements design development system level test/verification and validation of the C17 Flight Management System (FMS). In addition the candidate will apply job principles theories and concepts to contribute to the field investigations and new capability development for the C17 Weapon System.
- Tasks will broaden upon candidates knowledge in avionics including areas such as navigation and localization (position awareness) guidance and flight controls and federal and military regulations and policies and will expand as the candidate grows within the domain. This job will build expertise in aircraft technologies that are both industry standards and C17 specific.
- The primary subject matter for this role will be the Flight Management System which is responsible for Flight Planning/navigation guidance control display and automation of aircraft. A successful candidate in this position requires having an excellent technical and communication skills while being aware of the business constraints.
BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering physics mathematics data science or computer science.
- Classroom or workrelated programming experience with any of the following software development languages: Ada C C C# JAVA and Python.
- 3 years of experience in aircraft avionics flight controls and/or other aircraft electronics.
- 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3 years of fulltime aerospace industry experience with Avionics Flight Management System and Electrical Systems.
- Have a Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science Mathematics Physics or Chemistry.
- Have one of the following: Military/Commercial Aircrew experience Private Pilot License or Flight Instructor certification.
- Experience leading a team through software development life cycles.
- Experience presenting data to both technical and nontechnical customers.
